***POTENTIAL SOLUTION*** For CPU OVERHEATING issues & crashes
Since the last patch, my CPU seems to be heat throttling to the point where not only the game, but my entire computer are crashing. I have a very recent computer (only a month old) with a i7-14700K & 4080 RTX SUPER. After monitoring the processes & playing around with the files for a bit, I MAY have found a solution.

The issue seems to be related to GameGuard. Reinstalling GameGuard seems to have fixed the issue for me. These are the steps I've taken:
1. Uninstall "GameGuard" using the "gguninst.exe" uninstaller in folder "Steam\steamapps\common\Helldivers 2\tools"
2. Clear all contents inside folder "\Steam\steamapps\common\Helldivers 2\bin\GameGuard"
3. Do a Steam file verification to download GameGuard once again.
4. Launch the game and allow the reinstall of GameGuard

I don't have a problem with overheating but the game simply stops responding and freezes after 5 minutes or 20 minutes in every game.

Even after I have reinstalled GameGuard.

Mmm then your issue may be completely different than mine. Did this start after the last patch? Can you check the Performance tab in Task Manager to see the load on your system? Tbh, in your case, I think it may be an issue of the new patch not be compatible with your current drivers, so you either need to wait for new drivers or for the devs to get us a new patch :D

The output is usually between 60 - 80 %
another person writes it could be due to the Arc thrower support weapon.
I have to test it.

testing it now. will update

edit: did not work. crashed again. highest cpu temp was 95

Damn, sorry to hear that. I'm afraid we'll have to wait for a proper to patch to fix some of these issues. I noticed there is a new Nvidia driver out since yesterday. I'm going to check if can stabilize my game even further with that later.

On a side note: Check your cooling. No matter what the programm does, your Parts should never heat throttle unless your cooling is garbage and not doing an adequate job.
Especialy if it not onlyx costs you the automatic overclokcing boost, but actually slows your CPU down, that indicated an enormous problem with your cooling that not only costs you a truckload of performance, but will also singificantly hurt the lifespan of your parts.

Hey thanks, but like I said, my rig is a month old, the fans are spinning (I can hear them alright haha).

That said, another thing I noticed: I see a HIGH SSD utilization as well.

NVIDIA driver update and not had a crash yet :)

That your fans are spinnign doesn't mean that the cooling itself is enought. If you put the engine of a ford fiesta into an 18-wheeler trcuk the engine will run just fine, but the truck will not work well at all.
If you get thermal trottling thta noticeablely impacts performance or even leads to crashes that means your cooling is ciritcaly low. As in, your components might well die within a year or two. Check that the airflow intakes and exhausts (bot hactive and passive) are clear, that the machien is in the orientation it should be (usualy fairly obvious), and check what coolign system you have.
Is the cooling system enought for your parts, did you maybe forget thermal paste/pads, or not apply enought, does the airflow also sufficiently reach the parts it is supposed to be.
And lastlly, if it is a prebuild, send it back under warranty, as that is a basically ciritcally broken product!

The game has worked fine before. Much heavier games work fine as well. The cooling works fine on my rig and has been working fine. No, I didn't forget the thermal paste. No, I didn't install the CPU cooling incorrectly. No, I didn't install weak case fans. I know what I'm doing, ^^

Good to know, I'm going to try that next just to see if I can further stabilize the game. Although that said, reinstalling GameGuard pretty much fixed the issue for me anyway so... .

instead of going on a wild goose chase ... just running a simple CPU stress test to confirm that thermal runaway is ACTUALLY what is happening should be the first thing to do.

That your CPU is getting to 95C under any circumstances, ever, is a little concerning. That's all he's saying. Although recent-ish processors are infamously heat-generating, It does imply that the cooler on your CPU is maybe not as strong as it could/should be.
