I have similar setup 7900XTX with 4K 120hz display. My GPU is an OC version. Tried different fixes. Simply turning off SSGI and AA did not help, but...
After I dropped settings to high/mid with FSR balanced, locked to 60 through Adrenalin with AMD Chill, I also noticed the following.
The game always runs at 60 FPS with GPU usage around 60% and 150-160W, but sometimes (mostly after mission during reward screens) it spikes to 95% and 360+ W power usage and FPS goes to 170+ DESPITE AMD Chill being active!
As you say, it is probably some instruction that pushes the GPU to its absolute limits, what causes game to crash.
So basically you have to adjust the settings so that you have enough overhead for this spikes. So far with my new settings and spikes up to 95% I played 3 mission (2 solo, 1 quick game) around 2h combined playtime and had a single crash after leaving the quick game party (I believe this crash has to do with quick game and not GPU, at least hope so).
Really wish this would be fixed, because I really want to play this game!!!
I ask because i play on 4k but since it was running at 70 fps and i like games to run 90 or above i decreased the resolution to 1440p and I do crash sometimes but never on 4k, its all weird.. i have to turn off global ilumination no matter resolution else i crash every couple minutes...
Readon Chill is not for the FPS limit. The basic idea behind Readon Chill is to limit the FPS when there is hardly any movement on the monitor.
While it's true that isn't the intended purpose, you can use it for that. You set the Min/Max values to match, and it's functionally the same thing.
Graphics at native 3440x1440 preset to lowest settings and haven't crashed in a a couple runs
