Game won't launch after GG refuses to update

I've been looking into it and trying to fix it literally all day instead of being able to actually play on my day off and nothing's worked so far. I've tried:

Uninstalling and reinstalling both GG and HD2

Whitelisting in my AV

Reinstalling with both my antivirus and firewall turned off

Reinstalling/running as an administrator

Using a different network to reinstall

Turning off all other programs that might be interfering

Verifying the integrity of the game files

Doing a system restore

Opening an official support ticket

So far, none of those have worked.

Final note, GG does actually install when I run it. The folder appears and has all the files in it. It simply won't update to whatever they put out on Sunday.

are you using Windows? if so what version, maybe Windows 11? hopefully it's a legitimate version and not cracked. I have a feeling the anti-cheat might be causing issues with cracked and other 3rd party software, I'm not saying you have cracked software but this could be causing the issue or other software. As for installing in a different environment you would be installing a different operating system. Maybe dual booting so you got more than one operating system to work with. Maybe even a linux distro if you want to go that route. Also just uninstalling from Steam doesn't always delete all the files, you might have some files that get put in the appdata folder, that's in C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\ I haven't checked but I'm sure files exist in hidden folders somewhere.

So, i'm on windows 10, and it isn't cracked. I don't actually know how to mess with installing different operating systems or anything, but I'm pretty sure I cleaned out all the data for fresh installs. Maybe not, but even if I didn't, long story short this is a stupid problem to have and the fact the devs haven't even acknowledged it yet is worrying to me because it makes me think anyone with this problem may end up being put on hold for... well, longer than i'd like, considering.

I'm in the exact same situation. Tried every single solution that'll come up in a search but nothing works. I go to launch the game and nothing happens

Here's an update + link to a steam review detailing it a bit more. There's a "fix" but its not feasible for most people. Might be for you though.

However if you're getting a 114 error or gameguard simply isnt installing, afaik there's no fix for that other than wait for it to work once the devs find a fix of their own.
