There's no way the developer will give him a key cause he bought a stolen one
Idiot.
Of course they are not handing out free key's, but they might be able to help him with why the key got revoked, and if turned out to be stolen, and he did in fact buy it from a ''legitimate'' key seller, he could then approach them with that information.
Either you bought the key from a grey key site or you are simply trying to get the Devs attention to try and scam a free key.
And I'm more for the ladder since you refuse to say where you bought your key from. Because even if you did use an authorized reselling like Humble or GMG you would go through their support. Not the Steam forums.
You buy a key from Steam and the key gets revoked then you take your issue with Steam and they refund/replace the product. Then THEY take things up with whoever issued the key to get compensation or w/e.
Doesnt matter who it is, just replace Steam with whatever "totally legit back alley shop" whatever was bought from and it still holds true in like 95% of every consumer transaction ever.
OP is simply a troll, stupid, or very starved for attention is absolutely glowing from everyone wanting to hear them give the answer to their questions. Possibly a combination of these.
Yes, I am attempting to reach out on all channels - these things unfortunately take time.
In the meantime, it is kinda sorta interesting to see all the fanfiction people are coming up with in this thread about my situation and motives.
I'm honestly not sure what it is about this issue that riles people up so much - I wasn't exactly soliciting any outside perspectives but people seem compelled to offer their two cents.
If the key was bought from a authorized retailer. You wouldn't be here. You would be discussing the issue with the retailer support, not crying on steam community hub and you wouldn't be hiding the resellers name.
So, you got burned on grey market and you wanna complain but you know that nobody is going to help you because you knowingly bought a stolen key.
or
You're acting like a victim in hopes of getting the game for free by someone who sympathies's.
That's why you're not dropping the name of the reseller because making a false accusation can backfire. Perhaps you went even further to fake some receipts to 'prove' who ever is willing to listen that you 'bought' it.
What ever the case is. There's so many red flags in your posts to have anyone trust you here. That is simply because you can't provide us with the resellers name.
Edit: NO WAY STEAM CENSORS THE WEBSITE. THATS TOO FUNNY
This is a perfect example of a narrative being created from whole cloth. I don't mind the speculation, though. No random chap on the Steam board is entitled to further information and I'm certainly not interested in what they would have to say.
One might think they would just not engage if that were the case but I guess we're all here in the first place because we have nothing better to do.
In other words, not an officially authorised reseller, otherwise you would have no issue telling us who exactly this retailer was. No authorised, legit reseller is going to tell you that you have to sort this out with Steam or the publisher directly. They are the ones who took your money, they are the ones who delivered the product (your key), they are the ones who need to sort it out or refund you. Shifting the blame is something that only grey market resellers do. Keys get revoked all the time for legitimate reasons. It's on the seller to figure out why your key got revoked, not you.
Trying to weasel around the fact that you bought from a grey market reseller is not helpful. If you were to tell us who exactly you bought from, we might be able to give better advice.
Otherwise the only advice we can give you is: don't buy from grey market resellers in the future. And if you do, use PayPal so that you can get your money back in a case like this.
