How to fix Helldivers 2 Crashing on Launch (GameGuard)

ALERT

OK so I just had to deal with this and this is how I fixed it. I've still had it f up a few times after, but it seems to work better after added it to my Antivirus whitelist.

1. Go to your game folder and open up the bin folder inside. (mine is C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Helldivers 2/bin)

2. Delete the GameGuard folder you find here.

3. Right click on helldivers2.exe

4. Click "Run as Administrator"

5. Add the Gameguard folder that gets newly downloaded to your virus protection whitelist. I have avast and I went and added the whole folder to my my allowed apps list so it doesn't get scanned by antivirus and that seems to help with launching the game

6. restart PC after.

That should do it. That's everything I did to fix it for myself.

you type in on start menu search "allow an app through firewall" and it should bring it up
i actually did not even do the firewall part and it worked. HOWEVER i have a new problem. i did the tutorial and it was great....i went to change my helmet which made my game crashed. The devs say there is an issue where if you do the tutorial and go straight to armor changing the game will crash. You have to finish the first mission before customizing anything

oh also when you do the right click run as admin on the Exe file for helldivers. its to redownload the anticheat so it will do the black screen. once it blackscreens once you go to steam and hit play button and it opens right up

I tried changing my armor before I did a mission, game won't start now. They need to fix this, today.

Im on the same issue. game worked great after i found the fix......but did not see anyone say do the first mission before you change anything in the armory

So, I am now in the same boat as many others. Game ran fine for about 2-3 days. Hard crashed my PC once and now it just won't launch.
What sucks is I'm pretty sure I can't refund it now, so if a dev sees this, please fix this quick.

The game is fun as hell... If it actually runs.

Even tried uninstalling the game and then reinstalling, same issue.

Same as everyone else except I did the first mission and I still hard crashed and now nothing works

I'm in the same boat. The game didn't even crash recently, and I was playing last night without much issue, but today it just won't boot. not after reinstalling multiple times and rebooting multiple times. Even updating windows and doing yet another clean install, scrubbing files out of Roaming and everything. I'm deeply frustrated by this, as I was loving the game and just want to be able to play it with friends again.

Every time I hit play it says launching for 3 seconds then has the play icon again if anyone knows the solution to my problem please help

we shouldnt have to play Neo hacking arouind in files in order to play a $40 game
(even though I love Neo,just saying)
