Disconnect issues

I can't play through a full match anymore due to server disconnect. I don't know if there is a fix or if its just a wait and see issue. Wasn't having issues for the first 7 hours of release

Hi! Getting disconnected sounds really frustrating, especially in the middle of a match! We are looking into this and are trying to find out what is happening.

Do you get an error message when you return to the ship? If so, what does it say?

I started running a ping to my DNS while playing and found that if you lose internet for literally 1 second, you are kicked out of the game. This happens to me probably once an hour, which means there's a substantial probability of it happening during a 40 minute game. There definitely needs to be some sort of grace period before getting kicked.

That already tells us something. That error message means that the connection to the host player was somehow lost. We use peer-to-peer networking for the multiplayer part of the game. Your game still had a connection to our servers, but not to the host for the session you were playing in.

That does not mean that it is not a problem worth investigating though, it is still breaking your experience with the game.

So..let's see what else we can figure out: do you also have this issue when playing with friends?

Sorry, but the disconnection from the host player thing can't be correct (or at least not the only factor). I don't play with others, strictly solo, and I have gotten booted with "failed to establish a connection to server" multiple times. Worth noting that when this happens to me, Steam Cloud also desyncs. And the first time it happened, restarting the game didn't fix it, I actually had to uninstall and reinstall.

I had the same problem, especially after when finishing a mission or extraction I got "Failed to establish a connection to server"

Had this happen with 45 seconds left on the extraction timer. Utterly absurd.

I am getting these disconnections today too. It seems like the connection to Steam is lost as my Steam will say offline.

Also have lots of disconnections during games (if i joined i got kicked, if i'm host everyone got kicked). Playing in matchmaking, I think i didnt succeed finish more than 10% of my "long run" missions since the launch, thats really annoying.

Is there no way a host can migrate to a new player when the initial one leaves? I've played many games where that is a beloved feature. This really need it.

so i have had problems with crashing during helldrop load screen anyone else im also on steam deck if that matters. game ran great last night when i first started playing and today its f*ucked

Yeah, I am constantly getting DC'ed in long missions.. I have lost a lot of samples / xp. I think I am going to wait for it to be more stable. I enjoy the game, but that is super annoying

Normally i would be blaming the game servers for this but today i have had 5 disconnects and every time it happened if you look at where it says manage downloads at the bottom of your screen on steam it has said no connection, in all the years i have had on steam i have never, ever seen this happen this many times in 1 day, you would expect to lose connection at like 1 in the morning when they do their 5 min service on 1 day of the week but never this many times, something has gone funky and for once it is not the game dev's fault.

The most disappointing thing is people are already miffed about the server issues and today was beyond their control but i have seen many saying refunded this was the final straw, wonder how much steam cost them today in refunds ?.

Same always happens just before the mission ends or when going to extraction. Some times a crash to desktop other times i get a black screen and i'm back on my ship.

I wouldn't be too bothered if it would actually let me rejoin my bro's.

Playing in the same room as my team, all the computers are in the same room, server, WiFi, etc and still timing out. Really difficult to play with one another. Two days ago, we were fine.
