Troubleshoot the issue then. The game will use whatever your default comm device is. So what dictates that is what you need to figure out. In your case obviously Windows isn't setting your communication device. You most likely have a 3rd party program doing it. Sound driver control panel etc. Sound Blaster takes over audio peripherals usually, so if you have any kind of sound card or on-board sound drivers loaded that have their own application then check that. Otherwise you'll just have to wait until they add a device selection in the audio settings. But I can assure you, unless you're using some USB headset that the game just doesn't like for some reason, the answer is in your PC settings.
I really did all of what you suggested and even did a fresh windows install to verify that no such program are installed on my computer, it's really frustrating to not be able to play the game you just bought
Okay not to be "that guy" but I call shenanigans on that. It's very, VERY doubtful that you went and did a fresh Windows install over this issue, and it's not a game-breaking bug to not be able to use your in-game PTT. Frustrating that a feature doesn't work, sure, but it's obviously something you're missing if that's the case.
What comms device are you using? What system are you using? etc give some info
Run helldivers.. it needs to be running... open your sound mixer.. and the sound settings (right click on your speaker icon bottom right for both). Make sure that your input and output are set to what you use. Your mic should be default comms and device.
IF you are using some sort of mixer like a goxlr or voicemeeter etc. Or even Nvidia broadcast. You need to set those as your default line in if your mic is directly connected to it or routed through it.
For example in voicemeeter If you have your mic routed to B1. your mic must be set to Voicemeeter out b1 in the sound settings. Otherwise it's not going to work.
I would also suggest that you disable anything your not using that way windows don't try to set those to active. And check the steam voice just in case.. even though that shouldn't be the issue.
If you want to use the windows 7/xp style of your sound options. It's there. Someone else posted how to search for it.
Or make a shortcut on your desktop and put this in..
C:\Windows\explorer.exe %windir%\system32\mmsys.cpl
That will open it for you.
I have a question to ask that I've not really seen addressed in this thread or elsewhere I've searched on the Internet...
That is: is anyone else not even hearing other people's voice chat? I've not heard one word from any player in my 100+ hrs of playing this game and I've ♥♥♥♥♥♥ around with audio/chat/voice stuff from week 1.
tldr: I don't hear players nor am able to chat... don't see the voice indications at all since day 1.
Any idea how to fix that?
