AMD 7000 Series Driver Timeouts
Chime in here if you have a 7000 series AMD GPU with driver timeouts (7900 XTX myself).

For me, on 14.2.1, setting the game on dx11 w/ the launch command ( --use-d3d11 ), has allowed me to play on my RX 7900XTX.

7800XT, can't even get past the splash screen, even with the 14.2.1 driver

You need to use Radeon Chill or something else to cap the framerate down to 30, also reducing resolution from Windows can help too. These should get you into the game long enough that you can reduce the settings. Just disable AA, Ambient Occlusion & Screen Space Global Illumination and set the resolution scale to lower than native.

Then exit the game again and set the framerate cap to 60, and restart.

Yeah that's no solution at all and is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. We don't have PCs to cap our fps. They need to fix the game and stop bullshiting around.

my 7900 xtx is also driver time-outing and i cannot launch the game for a long time after one such crash occurs.

In AMD adrenaline reduce your max frequency to 85% and power limit to -1%.
In game settings turn off global illumination and anti-aliasing, resultion set to native and a max FPS limit of roughly 60-100. Other than that leave settings untouched from the "high" preset.

It still occasionally hangs but it's hours apart. when it does hang it tends to be a hard system hang that causes a reboot, and Adrenaline resets the GPU defaults and you'll have to redo it. If not the repeated crashes will return.

This is what i'm doing with my 7900 XTX that has worked so far running on a 2K resolution.

I hate to admit it but it isn't the game. it's the AMD drivers having an issue the game just happens to hit really well. The game could patch it, but it very easily may not be possible on their end. most likely, needs to be a driver patch. Source, this game runs much more stable on older drivers. the newest driver is VERY unstable.

The latest driver is the worst one from what i've seen. i got the latest drivers to work, but i had to set extensive turning to downclock the GPU until it became stable.

I had the same driver timeouts even on older AMD drivers.

I finally solved my timeout crashes by deleting the shader cache file of the game and adding a Steam launch command to make it use DX11. I also limited the max frequency of my GPU to 2400MHz, and disabled SSGI, Ambient Occlusion and AA in-game. And capped the framerate to 60 with Radeon Chill. In-game framerate limiter adds about 10 Celsius degrees to the CPU so I stopped using that one.

This lets me run the game at ultra quality resolution scaling from 4k, with most of the other graphic settings at medium or higher.
So we will not get a fix for that from the devs???
7900 XTX here, simplest solution: turn off global lights, AA and run the game in DX11.

Its not waterproof, but I went from a crash every 5mins to...longer.
Just make sure you are running with the latest updates and run the game in DX11.

7900 xtx Happens.

A fix that helped me was:

Turning all the settings to low and turning off super sampling

why the hell would I want to play a game on low settings?
im having the same issues as what im reading here, but using a 4070rtx...
I had a lot of problems on the day I got the game, took me 10-15 reboots and crashes, some so hard my damned PC just rebooted, before I managed to twiddle the settings down enough before it crashed to prevent it. I have not figured out the problem, but dropping to the low preset fixed things for me on a 7600, same for a friend.

Game looks fine on low settings, not as sparkly but still great, and its most likely an issue that can and will be sorted out either my AMD or the game devs in short order... So come have some fun, and every few patches crank ♥♥♥♥ back to high and see if it's stable yet.
i need help :( two days ago with low resolution it was all ok with no crash and cap 60 fps, now it crash or shut down pc in 2 or 3 min in mission, a little help?

hmmm. maybe it is an issue with the game then. if Nvidea cards are also having the issue it might not be only driver related, though i still believe AMD drivers are a factor as i had a noticeable increase in crash frequency on latest drivers.
