Audio sounds terrible, stutters constantly and windows volume control/mute doesn't work

Like the title says, audio sounds like it's coming from a 20's record player, glitchy and stuttery all the time.

For some reason, the only way I found to reduce volume on this game is to use Xbox Game Bar's sound mixer and find Helldivers 2 there, and lower the volume. For some reason it works, but if I use the master volume controls it does *nothing*. This was a first.

More information on the issue, I'm using a Bluetooth headset. After plugging the headset, it seems audio magically sounds as it should.

I was having really bad crackling/static audio. I switched the audio from "game" to "chat" and it sounds perfect now :D I'm using Steelseries Arctis 5 I think... had em awhile lol they are wired only, hope this helps!

I've see you comment this in several threads. where and how do you switch from game to chat, and is it specific to your headphones? If so, it's going to be minimal help to anyone not using those headphones
