While I agree with the missed opportunity, you simply cannot let a faction die out for a week. The discontent among the playerbase is already high and skyrocketed when the Illuminates were gone for a few hours.
If anything, they should have had new units ready to make it feel like the first wave was just a recon unit and now we get to deal with the main force which is actually challenging.
as fun as this would be, lets thing like a regular JOE, they will cry that they removed only content they waited for 2 months, so tbh the way they did is still good, all tho its made purposely that we fail this MO as they need to expand, i believe we might see more Illuminate stuff at same time when the GLOOM from bug side will finally introduce new units and stuff.
Like seriously, people were frothing at the mouth cuz they weren't allowed to shoot at pixels that look different than the other pixels we have in game.
I dont think it necessarily warrants bringing the Illuminates back just to appease the fans if the alternative is to improve the experience and do it a short week from now.
With that said, it's incredibly obvious that the Illuminate weren't ready for prime-time, development-wise. They have a total of what? 4 distinct enemy types? 5 if you count both Overseers? They're also replete with badly outdated design. Landed UFOs in outposts can only be destroyed via demolition - an approach Arrowhead abandoned quite a while. Similarly, Tesla Towers can also only be destroyed via Demolition, even if Sentries and Guard Dogs will waste shots firing on them - something that Arrowhead fixed for Fabricators a long time ago.
And that's without going into minutia like Harvesters aiming high and not being able to target prone players, Sentries and Guard Dogs aiming high on Voteless and Overseers, only one of the two doors on landed UFOs being available for damage, or any of the other minor stuff. I fully expected that the Illuminate would show up for the weekend, then go away for a few weeks while Arrowhead, like... finish making them?
Yeah no. Those people making rage threads were not passionate. They were whining like 5-year olds whose candy got stolen before they could eat it. Those people also didn't stick with the game and didn't realise that even the bots returned after a few days when they were wiped out.
Patience would be what they'd have if they were passionate about the game, not enraged.
Thats kinda the state of any game now isn't it? You're immediately called a shill if you're not raging about every little thing in the game and call the devs lazy ♥♥♥♥♥ and what not because they didn't live up to their imaginary expectations.
It's kinda sad that some people get so mad about a game. Sure, I played squids all weekend, but last night I just kept playing something else even when they returned. It being december means I have to do my mandatory relaxed gaming and make myself a nice little village.
so are they raiding and leaving right after or are they actually taking planets but fooling the high command?
mog, calypso, genesis prime and bellatrix are in 4 different sectors. fish either move really fast and ignore the logistics or they can't be detected.
