Tactics Discussion: Illuminate
Thread is aimed at discovering best practices for fighting illuminate.

So far I'm finding the heavy MG turret works well against the walkers, EAT is however useless against the dropships. Does anyone have any advice for bringing these enemies of liberty down?

The regular machine gun works great, less than one mag to take down tripods, aim for the part where the leg attaches to the chassis.

just take baton and jungle armor and charge in, you are invincible to the zombies and squids with guns can't aim

Haven't done a lot of testing on the drop ships yet, but landing on one directly in the middle (circle on top) my hellpod crashed it to the ground. So maybe the circle on the underside is what you need to shoot with AT weapons to shoot them out of the sky.

Overall you probably don't use a lot of AT against illuminate so far though, one thermite is enough to deal with walkers once you drop their shield.

Also another tip for overseers (shield guys), just like regular devastators you can shoot their legs with light pen weapons to kill them.

Has anyone figured out how to destroy their ships (outposts) yet? I dropped stratagems on them, I shot them up with a recoiless and autocannon. Nothing I use seems to work.

500kg works fairly reliably. Their shields seem to fully block the first hit of anti tank weapons and need two rockets after that to got down. I haven't tried it yet but the commando might shine here.

You need to destroy the shield first (small arms fire works) and then throw a grenade into the glowing exit (at least it worked with a quasar shot). Orbital laser and barrages work wonders too, 500kg seems to work as well. Eagle strafing run and airstrike don't seem to do a lot.

What I wanna know is, how the heck do I deal with their ship encampments other than dumping 500kgs on everything?
They aren't like automaton outposts and terminid holes, I haven't been able to use grenades or even rockets on them so I just do the simple "big bomba go boom" solution.
But other than that there's gotta be a way to destroy those landed ships

I've been able to reliably destroy them shooting autocannon into the glowy door after taking down shield with primary weapon. Frag grenades no workie tho.

I managed to remove the shield using a laser support weapon and then threw a grenade into the open passage of the ship
It's best to use impact or incendiary grenades, the grenade launcher support weapon, normal grenades and rockets can rebound

Stalwart set to max RPM.
No other strategy needed.
(You will have to grenade the enemy spawners after stalwarting the shield away though.)

Landed ships I use either a Turbo Stalwart or Eagle Strafing Run to remove shield, then an explosive to the entrance. Reliable even in high difficulties if you're light on your feet.

Dropships need an RR up the belly when it's open/sending troops down. One shot.

Zombies, pure CC, so Stalwart is my go-to. A few shots and they go down so you could scythe through an entire horde.

Tripods go by the same principle as the landed ships for me, peel off shield then AT measures.

Lancers, personally I use explosive. I have not tested everything yet so crossbow is my best shot at the moment. Downs them in 2 hits.

Scout drones are no problem, just be sure to shoot them down before they can call for reinforcements.

It's those jetpack troopers I am finding trouble with. They're too fast for my crossbow and too meaty for my Stalwart to quickly dispatch (I will not forget the horror when I found out a fully charged railgun could not bring these bastards down). Absolute pests, I need tool recommendations

if you destroy the shield they are vunerable to everything an automaton fab is. just have to break it, be quick as it regenerates
