The illuminate is EVERYTHING that was hated pre-fun updates...
opressive, bullet sponges with tons of f-u mechanics, few real counters and overwhelming numbers.

It's as if they took the worst version we've had of the terminids and combined them with the worst version of automatons.

Generally unfun, running simulator.

Here come the "you never played the first game" try-hards, no one did, only you and about 100 other people kept that game alive, no one cared about the Helldivers "universe" until HD2 came out, fact. Get over yourself.

Another guy who refuses to changing his load out to deal with a different enemy. Also learn to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ aim people. They are not going to walk single file into your gunfire.

Also everything is hard when it's new, we've had them for half a day, lets give it a little time, and if they are too tough for you, go fight bugs or Bots. that's why there are 3 factions ffs.
I'm half willing to agree to the 'bullet sponge part', because the overseer armour makes them ungodly tanky unless you're running Medium AP and can score headshots consistently... or you're using explosives. Explosives ignore their armour, meaning things like the Purifier can take out those guys in 2 shots, or maybe around 5 shots with the Scorcher. Grenade Launcher also has surprising efficacy here.

The Harvesters? Those... aren't too bad either actually. Turns out the joint that connects the leg and the body is unarmoured. 2 shots with a railgun there downs a tripod, 1 shot with a recoilless also does the trick. I THINK one shot with a commando can do it too, btu I haven't tested it that much. No way an Overseer should be capable of eating 3 overcharged railgun rounds though, not when a strider eats ♥♥♥♥ in 2!

The overseers do tend to be kinda common, though. Especially on payload defence missions where the main threat becomes the 20 jetpack troopers that just beeline you or the generators and are a pain in the ass to kill. I wouldn't be against the overseers seeing... some kind of adjustment.

I was thinking the exact same thing. It's everything we hated in the big nerf waves as the standard way of combating the Illuminate. The concept of why they're so resistant to our usual weapons makes sense on paper, but it doesn't translate into fun, to me.

It's meant to be a co-op multiplayer game. But I don't know, I just have fun.

Everyone saying they are bullet sponges need to experiment and use appropriate weapons. Use the Scorcher, it melts Illuminate enemies.

This reminds me of when people started fighting automatons before people had some actual time to take them on and complained they where too hard and unbalanced and not fun
Even crazier when illuminates can be trivialized by a single gun
Seriously, just bring a stalwart.
People will spend like an hour fighting them with whatever they thought was meta for bugs/bots, get slapped, then come to the forums and whine instead of just trying different strategies.
Stalwart kills zombie hoards easily
Kills overseers easily
Kills shields easily
If you're struggling it's a genuine skill issue
I'm not even particularly good at the game and a single machinegun turret and a stalwart has carried me through every mission

For me, combining 2 factions into one is the best combination they could have made. Zombies come down very quickly, they are cannon fodder and the only difficult opponent is an illuminati with a jetpack and a reaper. However, if you are having problems with the new enemy, either lower the difficulty level or don't play the Illuminati. For me the Illuminati are a challenge that must be faced and are intended to be a true test for the Heldivers.

Here come the weirdos with 664 hours but with the intelligence of a wet sock. Sorry bud, using the same gun and running in straight lines for 660 hours won't do you any good. Maybe if you'd adapt your loadout and the way you play you'd realize how easy the Illuminates really are, but critical thinking is hard when you're an NPC.

Seem pretty fun to me.

Oh go away. I hate to admit it but the game had become a bit too easy. Until we get more difficulty levels I'm happy with this.

Well people better freak out over it rather then recognize that this happens with every content drop and it will be rebalanced.
LoboFH Dec 13, 2024 @ 10:45am
I don't think they are hard. The middle button of my mouse broke so I had to use an old mouse I always hated, one of those robot-like mouses with dozens of buttons in weird positions. And still with the handicap I dived in a 10 mission to check the new content and it was not specially hard, no deaths.

I think they will need a buff as a faction, the "zombies" are no real threat, they are like bugs but without speed or the vicious hunters leaping around. So only the elite units are a real threat, and it's manageable, if the minions are only a side distraction, unlike terminids, elites can be dealt with less sweat.
