Thermite grenades only work once the shields are down and if they're placed in the door.
I shot a lot of EATs at various spots on the Illuminate drop ships and it didn't seem like there were any obvious weak spots. For me, the most reliable way to take them down before they drop their contents has been the SEAF SAM sites, shockingly enough.
Edit: Read in another thread that the weak spot on the dropships is the circle that opens up to drop guys out.
To answer OP, you want raw DPS to take down the shields. Seems to be the solution to the current illuminate lineup in general. At least until the main force shows up.
I have used the Diligence CS to break the shield, and the HMG Emplacement. It's not a particularly strong shield, but it does need sustained fire to break it before it recharges.
OP is literally trying to learn. By asking. Don't be a jerk.
I ended up here because I was trying to learn as well. Thank you to all the helpful people with suggestions and info.
I will post where and when I want my dude. I want the op to be a better player by figuring things out. Not everything has to be spoon fed to people. Imagine if you were really a soldier on the battlefield and things went hay wire with the assigned mission, do you sit there under fire waiting for command to figure out your next move or do you analyse what is actually happening and figure out a solution?
I enjoy this game because I always experiment and figure out solutions to the game mechanics not jump on forums and have people spoon feed me information like I don't have a brain. You cannot get good divers who cannot think and adapt to the battlefield. You and everyone replying are doing this player a disservice in the end. It is what it is and no clown emoji award will change that.
I don't spoon feed people in video games, I want them to learn and enjoy the pleasure of figuring things out on their own to become skilled at it.
Players like the op are the ones that will turn around and complain that the game is boring at this time next week because your spoon feeding suggestions would have robbed such a player of hours that would have been better spent learning and understanding the game itself.
I do not agree with your philosophy of spoon feeding people. It makes worse players who are unable to think and adapt under pressure. I don't believe you make better human beings that way. So yeah my answer remains the same.
OP, play the game, figure it out. You will become a better player that way. All the clown emoji awards on steam won't change that fact. Imagine trying to impart the chill factor on an opinion on a video game forum. That never works on me, you are just giving me free steam points in the end.
You have a great point with learning in-game being more satisfying than being given the answers. I’ve learned this myself through showing friends my favorite games and practically handholding. They don’t end up being fans until they play it on their own and get that real feeling of accomplishment (Dark Souls 3).
To test out a different type of weapon in dark souls is maybe a 2 minute commitment; testing out the Spear in a 30 minute mission means you might be stuck with a rather out of place weapon for a while. I really hope they buff it because it feel ridiculously weak imo on anything besides bots . Excluding the time commitment stuff, there is also the co-op element of Helldivers.
what happened to me that I am typing a damn essay on my phone for a video game discussion
Playing other people makes me want to be the best teammate I can be. It’s no longer just about testing, but about being a reliable ally in the field. If it’s satisfying beating a mission solo, it’s even more satisfying to back up a teammate in dire straits. To do that, people want the best weapons for the job.
Lastly, I think lore wise, it would make sense for a military operation to communicate weapon effectiveness to its troops. Whether super earth itself would bother do this… is undemocratic to ponder. Regardless, we should consider the discussions as a niche way to inform our fellow divers; they still have to build the mental habits and strats that we share, it’s not like we’re holding the commando laser pointer for them at the Harvester’s leg. Cheers lads
I literally have not complained that the game is boring at all a single time, ever.
I highly suggest seeing a professional about these hallucinations that you are having.
If you have to make up an imaginary scenario to get mad at, then that is either strawmanning or a sign of a serious mental illness. Both of which just make you come off as weird.
I literally have 100% across the Souls games, mate...
