Gas grenades are good for swarms, though, so I gotta rec those.
Dominator is too slow and too precise for the flying guys. The Stalwart is great for the flying guys but you lose a backpack slot. Sickle is ok. Incen Breaker is OK but takes half a mag at least.
How does that make you lose a backpack slot ?
Gas, fire, or stun grenades are all great choices, but I've found the most success with the gas because it gets all of them to spread out and can cull the zombies.
Shields are tricky to pop, but I've found that the Sickle is one of the better options because you don't *technically* have to reload it and it deals a lot of damage quite quick. Scythe can pop them but it takes a long time, almost your entire heatsink. However, the Scythe is much better against the Overseers (both ground and flying) compared to the Sickle (maybe because of the fire?).
The Purifier also works *very* well and can kill the Overseers in 2 shots if fully charged. Can't remember how good it is against shields though. Sorry.
The Laser Cannon is my go-to strategem weapon against them right now. It excels at killing Overseers, is decent at killing Harvesters (their easiest weakpoint to hit is the joint where their legs connect to the body. If you break it they crumble instantly), and is decent at popping shields. Assuming you aren't only targeting the Harvesters the best option to preserve ammo is to run the Scythe/Sickle and swap between them and the Laser Cannon.
In terms of other strategems I usually bring the orbital gas bomb and a turret (Ideally something that hits often. Gatling and Autocannon do great work). My last two slots are dedicated to the laser cannon as mentioned before, and then either the new energy shield or the ballistic shield because I like using the spear.
The squids aren't really all that difficult to deal with--at least not yet. They're tanky, yes, but all of their attacks are fairly easy to avoid. Most of their tanky-ness comes from their armor. I'm not actually sure if any damage actually goes through it until it's been broken, which is why I think the Scythe has an easier time killing Overseers than the Sickle--the fire starts to hurt them even before it can actually hit the body.
TL:DR
Plasma weapons, Energy weapons, and anything else with CC (fire, gas, stun) excel against them.
They take little to no damage before armor is broken (excluding DOTs like fire or gas)
MMG for a support weapon. When you really need to mow down a bunch of Overseers, or a Harvester appears, reach for the machinegun and let it do it's thing. On the Harvesters, aim for the "hip" joints, right between the body and the leg. They're medium armor, and have relatively low HP. HMG, Laser Cannon, etc also work - pick things with high ROF (to break the shield unless you want to swap between primary to shield break and then support weapon to actually blast the tripod), and medium or higher penetration.
Cookout, I have no idea bout what secondary to use since I dont need nade pistol for holes here, maybe the mini flame thrower or the senator but I tried the senator and it was a waste of time since I use railgun. Thermites.
500kg, precision strike, shield backpack, railgun.
I hate the blitzer with its slow fire unpredictable targeting and lack of range for air units, ill never use that crap again.
Orbital Napalm Barrage, jetpack or buddy, and any sentry.
