Where is the solo mode? (Offline mode)
The game may be good and man do I want to play it. But I cannot unironically buy something $40 only to NOT be able to actually use what I paid for?
Like do you realize how pathetic and ridiculous it is that in 2 weeks the game has not seen improvements? Patches fixing a few things but the main problems are still there, are they not?
How many of you are waiting in queue? If the servers have a 250K capacity it means that there are 150K people waiting on a splash screen right now. It's absolutely insane.
Scam of the century.
And that's what happens when developpers fail to deliver on the most fundamental aspect of a video game. Solo play.
If they are not willing to increase their server capacity, where's the solo mode? Right. Can't sell battle passes and microtransactions if the game has a solo save mode. Gotta screw their players over just to make sure that they don't loose out of selling their little battle passes.
So this is where the state of a solo mode is at.

Anyway, when Arrowhead and especially Sony pull their heads out of the sand and actually build their servers with things other than paper craft, the reinforcements will be on their way.

solo? already possible.
just to clarify, do you mean an offline mode? without a need to sign into the servers?

edit: thanks for the edit

You can play difficulty 4 by yourself pretty comfortably and have fun playing solo, you just can't do it while offline lol.

The 'main problem' of full servers has only been a problem since friday, cuz it got unnaturally popular thanks to funny internet hype over the week. During the week and even the weekend before, there was never a problem. Source, I have 170 hours and never saw a full capacity screen til saturday lol.

They expected 50k players based on the prior game only peaking at 6-8k players across all platforms, and the servers were prepped for an overflow of 250k players.

That's not unreasonable to expect since the first helldivers set the precedent that Helldivers as a franchise would always be rather niche.

Helldivers 2 has a combined total of 800k+ players. They're going to have to rewrite a huge chunk of, if not the entirety of their backend code that handles unique connections.

No easy or simple fix and no historical precedent for THIS many players. I wouldn't call them unprofessional or pathetic, just suffering from success to a degree that nobody anticipated.

Well, I do understand and know that they weren't expecting this success. Not them or Sony.
But my point is, it's been 2 weeks and THAT is what I qualify as pathetic.
Many other professions would have a company collapse if product-damaging issues such as this game is having were to be on-going for two weeks. One week, sure, alright - But two and going on three? No.

At least 1.6 M people own the game and the server can only handle approx 410 K and is a Live-service, I'll let that one sink in before stating the obvious. They can't handle the current population and you have to be connected to their servers to play the game.

That's exactly my point. Always online to not miss out of extorting micro-transactions.
All it takes to solve this whole mess is to make an offline mode. The game goes for $40 they don't get to let this happen for 2 weeks and cling to a free-to-play monetization system.

Accept the fact it's a multiplayer game. Stop trying to bend it to your will. The game isn't balanced around solo play. If they'd do an offline mode, you'd see tons of people crying about the difficulty etc.

If you don't like it, find a game you do like.

Calling out for singleplayer in a coop game? there is several solutions for you though.
1. AFK in queue.
2. AFK in ship.
3. Farm in trivial.

If you do not at all have any idea about computer science, programming and so on- just do not dare to judge "ridiculous".
It is very reasonable what just happens and if you use your brain just for 5 minutes in a row you might be able to understand.

I wouldt mind being able to play this instead of sitting in a Q, considering i just wanna kill bugs on my own.
