Insane CPU usage
What is with this game using so much CPU usage. It’s giving me gems like over never seen before. Even when I change my settings the temps don’t change. And I have a pretty high build with a 4090 etc. So this shouldn’t be running this high on the cpu. Anyone have any suggestions as to help with this ?

Oh boy , you never tried any battlefield game or dead space remastered. This game compared to those is refreshing to cpu.
Whats your cpu anyway?

Yeah i did and both games are less CPU heavy.

I got a 12600k and there's a 30c difference between running the game uncapped at native resolution and capped at 60 fps with the resolution scaling set at ultra quality

the funny part is that i cant go above 70 / 80 fps top when things get hectic lol

How do you do that ?
I need to do it too

I'm in the 60c range while playing. Uncapped FPS, everything maxed at 120+ FPS.

10700KF OC'ed to 4.9GHz.

For my 5950x on auto OC. It likes to volt up to 1.45v in heavy matches. Definitely seems to be some sort of heavy load going on in the background for no good reason causing extra strain. I have tried ultra quality for days and switching to native. There is no difference in temps. My 4090 is basically idling most of the time while playing at around 10-20% usage. While the CPU is 50-60% usage.

On average with a 360 IAO cooler Im hovering around 66c while playing. 48c at idle. Or 70-80c in some matches. Seeing others mention that the higher end pc may be taking the workload off the other players really answers a lot of the variance going on. 80c is my ok I need to do something to cool down point. Even though my cpu is rated for temps to reach 94c without issue. Just no reason to bake one your hardware.

I can say the in game fps limiter and vsync "will" overheat your cpu. Keep both of those off and use your GPU software instead. I capped my fps to 75 via nvidia control panel simply to avoid unnecessary heat.

Definitely needing some further optimization.

What I've concluded as well, my guess is the in game framerate limiter isn't working as intended. As enabling that pretty much caps your fps and increases your cpu temp by 10-15c+

Can confirm. Using FPS cap ingame causes temps to skyrocket, but using NVIDIA control panel keeps the CPU usage and temperature down.

Yeah dont use the in game FPS limiter there is something wrong with it.

And yes the game does utilize my CPU and GPU to max potential, luckily my machine is designed to stay cool at max load so i can run my hardware to its limits for extended periods of time.

What you can do if you are having heating issues due to cpu usage being too high is you can go to your power settings and set max processor state to something lower and it should cap your CPU from using too much power and causing more heat.

If you are having heating issues with GPU you can only lower your graphics settings or in nvidia control panel your resolution and cap your frames lower to lower its usage, you can even try the new ai image scaling.

AI heavy games use a lot of CPU to compute pathinding, behavior trees, and misc. physics checks for movement/projectiles/environment querying.

On top of this, network messages are sent through the CPU and cannot be multi-threaded when received.

Multiplayer horde AI games have the most leeway for high CPU usage. I think people just aren't used to this because a lot of games these days are GPU-bound and have nothing going on the CPU.

except Darktide for example, which uses the same ancient engine, runs better, at higher intensity maps...
4080/5800x3d(-30 all cores) here at 3440x1440, and anything busier than a level 7 tier maps, will chug your fps down, like, from 120fps to 60fps while melting it up...
game is pretty inconsistent even with optmized settings!

I got a problem as well, hope you guys can give me any feedback and I'll really appreciate that.
The thing is neither my GPU nor CPU runs at 100% load when playing this game, framerate is really inconsistent from 70-120fps and drops to 40's when a lot of enemies are getting obliterated on screen.
#ForDemocracy.
I don't think it's normal that the GPU runs bellow 95-100% load on games, but Fortnite runs at 50% and sometimes below as well. The thing is in HD2 load runs at 60% on both CPU and GPU at times, I don't know if this is some kind of bottleneck or the game is terrribly optimized.
Although, Alan Wake 2 does run at 100% GPU and 25% CPU with max settings + Path Tracing High + FG. So I don't think the CPU is the bottleneck.
So why on earth is the GPU not at 100% usage on some games? lol

So basically they are stealing more CPU power then my system healthy can provide. If I had know it was peer to peer, and this bad I would not have bought it. Kinda feel robbed by Arrowhead Game Studios and Sony Interactive Entertainment. Something is very broken, failed to establish network connection sure man. Might be because they sucked my cpu dry. So to many buggy machines (ps5 and low spec pc's) sucking mommies tist.

Ryzen 5600x Nvidia 3070ti

Cap fps in GPU Software and:

I had 100% CPU Usage and low 50% GPU Usage an what helped were settings in nvidia driver.

Threaded optimisation allows the driver to offload certain GPU-related processing tasks as separate thread(s) on available CPU cores. Fine in GPU bound scenarios, but a nightmare when the CPU is near 100% usage.

In nvidia control panel turning off threaded optimisation (from auto) and setting gpu power management to prefer maximum performance (from normal) decreased cpu utilisation by approximately 20% and increased gpu utilisation by around 15%.

Considering I was hitting around high 100% on the cpu, the improvement is noticeable with less stutter and hitching and generally more consistent and higher frame rates.

Change your "maximum processor state" from 100% to 90%

power options window
advanced settings tab
processor power management>maximum processor state
