Automatons way harder than Terminids
Anyone else feel like Automatons are way stronger than Terminids? I'd take extreme Terminids any day over challenging Automatons.

I think they are equal, it is probably because you are taking the same equipment for both?
Automatons have different weapons they are weak too, different stratagems work wayyy better on them, and stuff like the shield generator make Massive waves of them into nothing enemies while the 4 of you wipe them all out un contested.

At higher difficulties I would say that Automatons start becoming easier, its a little bit easier to stop them from calling reinforcements vs the bugs.

ALso they are mainly ranged so you get a little bit of breathing room, vs constantly dodging chargers.

Not really, in fact I'd say the automatons are a bit easier to handle than the terminids in some ways. The terminids' main strength is zerg rushing with lots and lots of melee units, and when it comes to dealing with their heavy hitters (Chargers and Bile Titans), you're having to kite them while your squadmates help you deal with them. Though I do find it fun to kite chargers through their own units since they friendly fire a *lot* while chasing you.

At least with the Automatons, the melee units are typically easier to handle since you can pull back into cover from the ranged fire and deal with the berserkers. Tanks are a big issue of course, but the Spear thankfully doesn't really suffer from its wonky lock-on and tracking issues since the tanks don't move very fast.

I think they need a little tweaking yet. 1 charger ≠ 1 tank, yet you get about 1 to 1 for switching planets on same difficulty. Plus those freaking cannon towers. And the all knowing arty is BS

I think a big issue is that armor values are not working right, once it is fixed it should make heavy armor a good choice against the bots.

early game those bugs are easier for sure. Those automatons are just filled with range units

I find bots in general a bit easier but the missions where you have to protect civilians feels impossible with the robots

To be honest could be a playstyle difference. With Terminids most missions are a 'destroy bug nests' or some variation of search and destroy which means I can just hit and run objectives and face about 20% of the bugs I would have if I frontal-assaulted. Automatons have guns though. And one-shot rockets. Kiting becomes more of a chance thing than an assurance.
I actually haven't seen tanks on Automaton, and am not at the level where I can unlock things like spears. Could be a lack of proper equipment issue on my end.

So you saying that a couple of bugs that not really hard to kill is harder then robots that can one shot you and there at least 20 of them at a time
etphonehomeyeet Mar 25, 2024 @ 6:07pm
And automatons got more armour and are ranged and that make it even harder to get close enough to throw a railcannon or get accurate shots
etphonehomeyeet Mar 25, 2024 @ 6:09pm
And they got those jetpack enemies that if you shoot them if they get to close you gonna die
etphonehomeyeet Mar 25, 2024 @ 6:11pm
And flamethrower hulks and beserkers and the 2 main trouble some close range enemies

I think they're harder personally.

Mostly just because rockets taking your head off and jammers in spots that are really annoying to clear is harder than anything the bugs throw at me at Difficulty 7-8.

Hardest thing with bugs is when your squad just didn't take enough anti-heavy to deal with a ton of Bile Titans, but then you can shoot their sac and make them much more manageable anyways. I'll take that any day over a cannon I can't even see through the dust taking me out from a mile away while in jammer range so you can't throw a strategem on it.

And I know what I am talking about because I played helldive diff on the bugs and that was more easy then impossible on the bots
Robots are for sure harder, if we're at least talking about hell dive. Annihilator tanks are basically the armor of a bile titan with the weakness of a charger, a cannon like a bile titan spit that works at range, and machine guns of course.

Bots in general just take longer to kill due to armor and have more options to kill you. There's more variety in enemies as well. Hulks are fun, until they get rockets, because at least the flamer unit will chase you down and you can kinda run around him and shoot his back. But the rocket unit will sit still.

There's more reasons, I just don't want to write a whole essay.
