A Planet has a Campaign
A Campaign has multiple Operations to choose from
An Operation has a series of Missions to complete
Mine progressed to 2/8, probably need to restart the game for it to refresh.
That goal is for every person on the server.
It only raises when an attacked planet's defense bar reaches the top.
Not its liberation, it's defense bar.
You don't have to fight bots if you don't want to, there are plenty of us pushing bots. Go fight bugs. That goal isn't really important.
As others have mentioned, when you check the Bot planets you'll see one or two that have the DEFEND label and a blue and red bar below them.
Everything a successful defence mission is completed on the planet, the blue bar will move up slightly.
The objective is to fill the blue bar 8 times.
Mission -> drop in, do objectives, get out
Operation -> Set of missions
Campaing -> Capture a country/defend it, or can be linked to a specific front in case of global conflict.
In our case, it's obviously capture planet/defend planet
"Military campaigns involve multiple operations or battles as part of a larger conflict. Military leaders develop campaign plans to carry out large-scale operations in a region."
That's literally the ABC of military strategy.
