How is Armor penetration a lost tech?
We have known about armor and how to penetrate it for hundreds if not thousands of years so explain to me how in a scenario that is supposed to be 200 years in the future we somehow forgot how physics and armor penetrating rounds work?

Youre right, lets talk realism on a satire futuristic game!

What? all guns have armor penetration, though most are rated for light armor, medium armor is considered light vehicles, and heavy armor is what tanks have, use the right tool on the right job.

This is only technically true. Most guns do nothing to armor. Even repeated fire from a medium weapon should eventually break through armor.

Exactly. Its the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ future. Why is their weapons tech literally worse than what we have today ?

Armored bugs (like chargers) have the equivalent of tank armor. You wont penetrate that with any assault rifle so I dont really get what youre on about.

But a pod falling from space, slamming in the ground, burying it's self and a man popping out of it unscathed.. Perfectly normal.

Lol yeah, screw realism! It's a satire game! Who needs gravity on the planets? I should be able to just ram my ship through all the objectives to win! I shouldn't have to reload my guns, just ignore reality!

The concept of 'penetration' was removed from language due to toxic masculinity a century before the game is set.

Clearly AP needs to be regulated so dissidents cant get their hands on it.

You know what would though that actually exists in the game? An ANTI MATERIAL RIFLE. Also commonly refereed to as an anti tank rifle. You know what doesn't? AN ANTI MATERIAL RIFLE.

Everything else aside with the issues the game needs a massive balance patch. Its extremely boring when the 12th bile titan pops up out of nowhere and you have to switch to the only weapon that can do any damage to it because you are forced to bring it as everything else literally bounces off of it like they are nerf darts.

What seems to be missing from your evaluation is the following logical revelation: 'Light Armor Penetration' is a form of AP. Even the smallest bugs (Scavengers) are armored, it's just light enough our military grade small arms can punch right through it.

Look at the Spray and Pray, firing birdshot, it can't even penetrate to do damage to bug eggs, which as far as I can tell is a unique situation. Your starting pistol punches right through those to deal damage.

Bugs and bots aren't unarmored, it's just that the basic ones don't have tough enough armor to avoid being defeated by our ballistics.

Medium armor stops small arms, hence medium armor penetration on a few weapons and the MG-42 starting machine gun. (Even the stronger rounds of the Senator revolver can punch through these interestingly enough.) Autocannon rounds utterly shred such armor without effort, as does most explosives. (pretty sure even the frag grenade doesn't care about medium armor.)

Then you have Heavy Armor, which is tank equivalent (and the Automaton Tank does indeed sport this armor.) and we have Anti-tank weapons for that job.

i'd argue there's another layer, call it 'fortified' because it's the Automaton factories that are the most common case of it. Anti-tank doesn't cut it except on thin points where the armor is lacking, like the vents we throw grenades down (bypass armor by exploding inside!) and the heat exchangers on the back of cannon turrets.:raven:

Yeah... Remember when Anti Material (Tank) Rifles were used heavily in WW2 when armor was thinner, but as armor got thicker they went to rockets and such because the AT rifles became inefficient??

I assume the weapons have a high level of penetration but what we're fighting is just incredibly well armored. Kind of like how in 40K the Lasgun is in essence a super powerful energy weapon but against the hide/armor of a lot of enemies in 40K it's just a flashlight to them.

Idk man, how would letting tanks or armored bugs getting downed by small arms make the game funner?

Its fun calling down ordinance on a fat bugs head, its fun running around a tank and shooting its butt with a rocket, its fun to run for your life from a horde of robots and throwing a rocket at your feet so you can blast the entire group as you barely make it outta range.

Killing a tank by pumping 4 mags of ur basic rifle into it just sounds boring as hell.

Considering the fact that an armoured bug such as the Charger has the equivalent to modern tank armour and a man-portable Railgun is able to defeat that in two shots is pretty impressive.
