Is it actually THAT hard for the Devs to increase server capacity?
genuine question, surely they can pay for better servers with the sales they have received so far. I and many others haven't been able to play the game properly in days, i've maybe done 2 games in about 3 days because of the server capacity issues and even when i can log in it says there is no one online.

I really like this game but cmon, does it really take this long?

Yes actually... It is... If they manage their own hardware then they need more hardware, which takes time to get. It has to be bought, shipped, unpacked, set up and so on (i know we're used to same day Prime... they dont have that with that hardware). If they dont then they have to make a case with whoever is managing their hardware, which takes more time. Then theres the ISP... And the hours in the day...

Theres a lot that goes into this stuff...

If the game didnt explode in popularity? It would likely be fine... However I bet theyre completely overwhelmed and trying their best with how many hours in the day they have to work.

You think arrowhead game studios has physical servers they're hosting the games on? lol

no this days its super easy they would just need to pay more for it and they are greedy
You're incredibly wrong.
if they use cloud servers, which they most likely do no, he isnt cloud servers are super easy to set up the hard part would be getting the funds and fixing whatever else problems there are

Problem is not server capacity. Problem is bug that causes player slot on server to not free up after one leaves the game.
if that's the problem, then the solution is to increase the server capacity until the problem is patched. DEV is cheap.

LOL, Steam forums. Logic and/or reality need not apply.

No, he isn’t lol cloud servers are incredibly easy to setup regardless it’s not a server issue anyways

Let's put this into perspective. Amazon with new world had around 1.1 million players at launch/shortly after launch and they had server issues. AMAZON OWNS one of the biggest server distribution's in the world and they couldn't even manage to get their servers in line in less than a week and they had the hardware/personnel and finances to throw it to make the problem go away.

This team is around 100, doesn't have the hardware and doesn't have the finances (That we know of.) to just snap their fingers and make it go away. They got overwhelmed and are working to fix it, all while being berated and belittled by the community they are working so hard to support.

Tbh, this is all irrelevant because Helldivers is P2P. This shouldn't even be a problem they have to deal with. New World was an MMO with vastly different servers.

I don't know if its actually P2P.

Your knowledge is wrong, there are cloud services. Even if they using on-premise server, which is likely not, they can still use the cloud on top of their on premise server to handle workload and matter it best practice to allocate additional capacity using cloud as it cheaper compare to procuring hardware.

Not talking about the cloud servers dmb4ss, talking about the original post that i quoted and called wrong, and then you defended even though they are wrong.
They said the devs could just buy more and they are being greedy.
they arent being greedy, they wrote bad backend code that literally cant be scaled to the extent it needs to be. l2read

They have said it isn't a server issue but a coding issue.

It is actually P2P, they're cheaping out on actually hosting their own server for game session. Basically it your game client connect to their online service (which this part is the bottle neck) and when you join a another play session that when the p2p begin.

This is an excuse, Fortnite uses AWS which is a on demand service. Most live games use this kind of service to host what ever capacity is being demanded

They are incredibly correct depending on whether the servers are in the cloud or not. If they are in the cloud it takes literal minutes to scale up or even out, though this would be a vertical case probably. If they are on-prem, however, womp womp.

Its not just as easy as throwing more servers at it, the games API, DB and infrastructure also has to be able to cope with the added traffic, this could mean re-coding the games architecture.
