I think I got bamboozled by streamers...

These repetitive games are now really my parte but all the streamers I am watching were saying the game is really fun to the point I started to think I really need to try it. So today after I heard another 100 times how fun the game is I am thinking what the hell, why not, I will try it.
So I bought it. downloaded it, went through the tutorial and couple of solo missions and now I am sitting at my table with my head in my hands thinking why the ♥♥♥♥ did I pay for this. The solo experience is absolutely terrible for me and since you can't really play online at the moment the game is just an expensive paperweight on my hard drive. None of my friends bought it yet (and I will warn them not to at this point) so I can't play multiplayer at all and I find single player just tedious and frustrating.
I think... I think I was "influenced" the wrong way... I feel dirty...

EDIT: I admit I didn't do enough research of my own. I solely felt like this must be a good game based on the opinions of the streamers that I watch and, in a way, I trust.
I also understand all of them play with pre-made squads but on the other hand I thought the game will be also fun to play solo from time to time and that I can grind some currencies. It's hard for my friends and I to find the time to play the game at the same time so the option of soloing is necessary for me to be able to recommend it.
I guess it boils down to the same frustration many of us are feeling now due to the matchmaking not working properly.
I will still keep revisiting the game and hope that it will get better with time. Still feel a bit stupid buying it out of sheer hype.

Yea the lack of solo player scaling sucks. I think it will be impossible to max out ship upgrades without doing multiplayer. The game becomes wildly stressful as a solo player in the difficulties that you need for the higher tier samples.

maybe you should tell your friends to get it too so that you can actually play the game as it was intended, I've been playing with just one friend and it still feels fantastic

Game CAN be played solo, but TKing or being TKed in funny ways is @half the fun of Helldivers.

I have seen people who can solo on Helldive difficulty, but that is WAY beyond my skill/gear

streamers always hype their game play to entertain their viewers.

If you are going to watch them, make sure you have them on mute.

You are better off watching a few game reviews. ignore streamers, with their short attention span, they will be playing another game in a week.

The game is great. The matchmaking is currently broken. You can do something about that yourself instead of crying, if you want. There are LFG threads on both reddit and discord, add a bunch of players to your friend list in game and then you'll have squads to join with.

I will also note that the game feels a bit barebones in the early difficulty levels but really fills out once you have a few levels under your belt, are fighting more complex enemies, etc.

You'll notice that none of those streamers you were watching were relying on matchmaking to fill out their squads. They're playing with friends/youtubers/other streamers so they don't have to deal with matchmaking. They're not misleading you by doing so, you're misleading yourself by assuming that matchmaking is just as effective as having friends. It isn't.

Every big streamer I've seen playing this game always rolls in with a partner or a full party. I understand that the game sucks at scaling for solo gameplay and you don't always have a partner and the match making is busted right now but if you're not gonna encourage at least one friend to play with you it's kinda on you for getting 'bamboozled' by streamers when they never played alone to begin with.

The GAME is hilariously fun, utterly chaotic, easy to learn and hard to master.

ACCESSING the game is an exercise in frustration. The servers have been overloaded since launch and no matter how many people threaten, scream or cry, upgrading server capacity is NOT a simple matter for such a game as this. Money cannot fix everything when engineering or physics says it cannot.

People are upset. They have reason to be.

FUNNY thing? The devs KNOW this and are working to make it better, no matter how many Karens and negative Nancies come on here to run in circles, scream and shout.

This game never meant to be for solo, and it's quite boring until "Ultra Hard" and higher difficulties, where you won't be able to survive most likely even in duo.
It has only "Co-op" tag in steam store

sounds like u havnt even given it a chance. and most streamers i watch say maybe wait for fixes and its funnest coop with mics. single is possible tho, i beat a bunch on at least medium but u dont wanna do that forever
