Is this game worth playing solo?

I know its by far the worst experience not playing this with others, but my internet is god awful, and i know i would be lagging around trying to play with friends. Are any of you playing this solo, and enjoying it?

I did "hard" on solo. ICBM, defend, clear base and survey.
Works, but you need more of a recon approach, avoid patrols and use your stratagems (I used 4 turrets) well and manage the cooldowns (dont attack big objectives when stratagems are not ready).
I even cleared a base just with the stratagems (laser, 380mm HE, etc.) where I only took 3 turrets with me.

Haven't tried "extreme" on solo yet, probably really hard to do, but I guess could also be possible, depending on skill.

If you are casual, stick with lower difficulties when soloing.

This game is incredibly good solo, all you need to do is to disconnect your internet once you are on the planet and the ai breaks. Also if you are having difficulty playing the game, simply click the play button.

its alright solo, but its practically a simulated torture experience playing any difficulty above medium solo, though.

I do not recommend it solo after playing it both ways. This game shines brightest when playing with others. I have almost exclusively matchmade with randoms and had an exceptional time. It was built for co-op and many objectives work much faster with teamwork involved. Playing higher difficulties will not go well by yourself unless you intend on avoiding fights constantly.

I would also be wary of trying to play right now. The first game had like 7,000 concurrent on Steam, so the devs expected 50,000 players max across both platforms. They are closing in on 400,000 concurrent on Steam alone and their servers are getting absolutely shredded right now. I would not expect being able to play until during the week.


Sucks I know but the devs have been working to increase server capacity but it isn't as simply as just upping the limit.

Interesting. That is unfortunete tho, guess ill just have to pass until i get Starlink for better internet. Though i am sure it will lose a lot of players by then.

most of my 42 missions played have been solo, Im having fun, progression is slower but thats to be expected in a solo play game built around a squad of 4.

Brother this game is always online. The servers are always at capacity and the ones that get in simply let the game running all day so they can play in the evening. Basterds.

You wont be able to play even if you go exclusively solo

How do you get matchmade games though? Never works for me and what others are saying as well that I can see matchmaking doesn't work so have to play with friends.

Game actually has stealth mechanics including stealth kills so you can sneak through most of the mission. Density on higher difficulties necessitates more active approach, however. People do solo max difficulty, you can see it on the tube.

I find the Missile Launch missions pretty doable by myself (what's going on with the SOS mechanics, anyway?), on medium, at any rate. Defense is okay, too. All provided you bring the right equipment (mortars and sentries are essential). Egg missions are considerably harder to do solo. My two cents, anyway.
