First off. Its Customization. I imagine english isnt your first language.
Second. You can blow up plenty of stuff in Helldivers, its just as thorough as Deep Rock.
Last. How ā„ā„ā„ā„ā„ā„ā„ Dare You. "old men" Those are
DRG and helldivers are different games completely.
DRG is more sandbox based with a lot of down time between main objectives
DRG has classes/heros similar to games like R6/overwatch (granted, not on the same grand scale as the abilities in those games)
DRG has an entire mining and collection system
DRG focuses more on close quarters interactions between enemies
DRG has a very unique ping system, not really something to be praised but its used enough in day to day matches for me to point it out
DRG has a very linear "campaign" system
onto helldivers
Helldivers has the aforementioned stratagems
helldivers has a more open map design focusing on large scale encounters
helldivers uses a system similar to foxhole in its mission selection which is a wholly unique (to my knowledge) system to this genre of game
helldivers wants you to explore the map and clear areas unlike DRG where your goal is pretty linear with nothing inbetween.
helldivers has an entirely different enemy type with potentially two more on the way (worth a note because DRG only has bugs to fight)
I love both games, they both play extremely fun with the right people, and in the current state that both games are in DRG DOES clear helldivers, but I feel as if they're both trying to do completely different things with the genre, similar to how wwz and l4d2 are both zombie co-op shooters but one focuses more on grand hordes and setpieces and the other is more dynamic and gameplay focused. (we dont talk about back 4 blood)
Helldivers has you mining for Gold for currency, Nitra to call in resupplies, and Morkite for objectives? It has nodes of Magnite, Umanite, or Jaditz? I dont remember even collecting bug eggs or mushrooms to make beer on the ship.
Wait, am I missing the unique special gear, like the platform gun, drill hands and grappling hook?
Where is the red sugar, all I have are these stupid stims.
Not including the popularity, Helldivers did have commercials. Also, viral marketing is a thing. Deep Rock has a fairly large player base, but its also old. Reputation or not, there is also the graphics, which dont set well with some people. They prefer more realism in their games. But honestly, DRG has similarities in gameplay loop to HD2, and it attracts many of the same types of people, Coop shooters. Which, honestly, is becoming a more popular genre.
Both games are extremely good at what they do, there's no need to pit them against each other. Having said that, DRG's all time peak is only 46,687 and that was more than a year ago.
