Stratagems while moving forward not working on steam deck. Help!

Has anyone else experienced not being able to move forward at all while holding L1 on the steam deck for the stratagems menu? I can move left, right, back with the menu up but not forward at all. I’ve set the right trackpad as a directional pad so I’d be pretty efficient at calling them if I could only move forward while calling. It’s really ruining my experienced. My brother who is on ps5 is doing the movement with no issues.

I’m more irritated that when I pull out my stratagem nothing happens even when I use the D-pad no options or screen pops up I just keep clicking at my wrist in the tutorial course.
