Automatons... are... fun... ?
I mean, constant dropships, arty sniping, rocket launchers from nowhere... Imho they are extremly annoying to fight, especially because most maps are open terrain. If we would have CITIES however...

Yup not very fun

I find the open terrain fun, diving behind tiny rocks for desperate cover is exciting in the moment. However I feel like bots on the higher difficulties are very much not fun.

6 is about the most I can stomach, and i run 9 bugs exclusively lol.

I love Automatons. But if I was to have a complaint, they have too many 1 shots. Cannons, missile troops, missile mediums, ranged hulks, and tanks. On the higher difficulties when you're dealing with all of them at once, it's more just luck than skill dealing with it all.

But other than getting 1 shot. Automotans are significantly more fun than bugs imo. ESPECIALLY the higher difficulties (Screw dealing with 6+ chargers at the same time).

I think they're actually really fun and cinematic to fight, but the rocket barrage medium robots are kind of cheap, I'd say 70% of my deaths are from them, and everything is so armoured I feel like railguns are going to be an EXTREMELY easy meta pick unless things are re-balanced

Not a casual, I just finished running a bunch of 9-tier missions with skilled randoms. Avoiding a lot of fights is basically optimal because there is so much spam, and because everything is so tanky

strat is limited in bot mission
shield backpack is a must to avoid sudden death, which limit the support weapon to railgun only, then orbital railcannon to deal with additional heavy, then you only have only one slot for free use

I like there operational modifiers and the fact there ranged. Forces interesting choices. People just run from bugs with light armor. Not as easy to run from bots because your going to get shot at. Makes Helldive actually a Helldive.

Bugs need buffs in my opinion or some way to counter people that just run from everything. Only thing I'd change about automatons is make rocket damage more reliable.

Automation missions are more enjoyable. Terminid missions feel a lot safer while Automatons feel far more chaotic. If I want to farm some resources I'll fight bugs, but if I want to have some fun with friends I'll fight robots.

I love them because they make you use your head instead of just holding S and shooting. Not that I find Serious Sam a bad game though.

With Automatons you have to use more hit-and-run tactics. They are much slower than bugs and much more susceptible to diversion tactics. Try luring them into chokepoints or losing them with smart retreats.

they are incredibly fun because they are a challenge, if you don't enjoy a challenge....well that's on you

My all time favorite moment was when two guys hit a heavy base from the front with a RR and AC. Once the bots took the bait a buddy and I ran in and just started hucking grenades while sprinting like mad bastards. Watching those factories pop while the main force just ran off like dumb asses was so satisfying.

I like automatons more than bugs. Unlike bugs they are predictable. They are mostly slow. Their dropships are easy to see and easier to prevent than bug breaches. You can see where the ship drops the payload and bomb it's "cargo" before they can react. Their factories are easier to destroy than hives. What's not to like?

I think the problem is mainly that people spent an entire weak fighting bugs and now they have trouble getting used to different approach you need to fight automatons. I spent most of my time on the automaton front so it's the opposite for me.

It'd be so nice, if it was actually possible to prevent bug breaches. By the time you see any sort of puff of orange smoke, it's too late. Especially when half of the time they aren't even at frontline, but instead behind some rock or bush.

Automatons is different. Like, whole different game. And funny to watch how people have no clue how to deal with bots XD

Really tricky, but possible.
