Actually they pretty much asked based on the topic's title, you don't see me starting pro/anti-whatever threads now do you? I just reply to some of them. If no one brought the issue up people wouldn't have been talking about it in the first place, I know i'd not be talking about it if someone else didn't bring it up.
Honestly, most people probably just really don't care because they've got actual issues to worry about in their lives. And you're not calling the Steam community forums an accurate representation of general public opinion, are you?
Also, keep in mind that the vast majority of topics referencing this "issue" originate from clown farmers, who are being kept well-fed by the more witless and reactionary creatures in this place.
That being said; no, this game obviously doesn't need any added real world symbolism of any sort, be it national, religious or otherwise. There should only be Super Earth and everything surrounding that.
Nope, no one asked.
You still unzipped and wave it around.
I've been alive long enough to remember when gay marriage wasn't legal in any US state. I'm sorry to say but your majority is not as major as you think it is.
Actual politics simply do not belong into video games, unless the video game is literally about politics.
In the case of Helldivers 2, it obviously doesn’t take itself too seriously (which is a good thing) but instead uses satire, although democracy is mentioned.
No one cares though, because it’s rather obvious - the whole game is advertised with spreading democracy, as a quip used every couple seconds in the trailers.
Spreading democracy with the (partly) absolute insane tools of war.
And that’s okay.
But when I (just for the sake of the example) buy a Call of Duty or Halo game, then I don’t need some pride flags to be shoved in, just for the sake of it.
If it fits the game, whatever, I genuinely don’t care. But if you, as a company feel like you have to shove some representation into games (and movies alike), just for the sake of staying politically correct, then you are completely out of touch.
There is no doubt corporate pandering that occurs but I've noticed that more often than not the same people who make a big deal out of it will just as easily make a big deal out of the most paltry of inclusions by devs who just happen to care.
you realize this game is a satire of fascism right?
There are Super Earth flags? My guy is wearing a skull cape and red goggles. It's like some kind of lego star wars man I would've built as a kid.
Not yet, no. But I‘m sure we‘ll be able to either hoist (like in the tutorial) and/or wear the flag of Super Earth soon enough.
I can imagine your character looks awesome already though!
