On Super Earth there is no need for LGBTQ or Black Pride
On Super Earth everyone is equal and the only thing that matters is Democracy.

Democracy doesn't discriminate against those who fight for it.

Yeah but being Heterosexual/straight is considered "normal and ok" by society where as Homosexual/gay/lesbian is considered "abnormal and wrong" by society in general. There is a big difference there in how society views both topics.

Me personally? I got no issue with any group until they feel the need to force their ideology etc down my throat. I have several LGBT friends myself and they are all cool people, they aren't the type to try to force the topic on people.

I have a image that says this on it and I feel its the truth:

TopicHere is like a Penis.
It's fine to have one.
Its fine to be proud of it.
But please don't whip it out in public and start waving it around.
And PLEASE don't try to force it down peoples throats.

The bottom 2 are the important ones, We don't need to know how LGBTwhatever you are, and we don't need it forced on us/in front of us either. Anyone is going to push back when something is forced on them they dislike, or have no interest in, and they have a right to do that in my opinion.

Like i've seen people come into a party in a mmorpg and say they are gay or bi, or lesbian or trans and the rest of party is like "ohhhhkay we never asked or cared but thanks for telling us I guess?" its just akward, However when you reply like this they often get pissed off as they think they are special for some reason. I mean we don't even know this person at all yet and thats what you start with? something the party didn't need to know to play a videogame, and after its said everything just tends to get all akward.

Again I got nothing against the LGBT community personally, until that one small section of it tries to force it into everything, THATS the section I have issues with. Most people who are LGBT are cool people who just wanna live their lives, but the small section of their community constantly causes targets to be on them due to how they act. People react to a group based on their past behavior, if you want peoples opinions to change you need to stop doing the things that soured public opinion in the first place.
no one cared what you think about them, yet here you are shoving it down people's throat

Actually they pretty much asked based on the topic's title, you don't see me starting pro/anti-whatever threads now do you? I just reply to some of them. If no one brought the issue up people wouldn't have been talking about it in the first place, I know i'd not be talking about it if someone else didn't bring it up.

Do you have any examples of LGBT topics being egregiously shoehorned into a significant amount of games, and the net losses that result from said topic?

People don't usually track that stuff publicly because they get called a bigot or phobe when trying to point it out. The fact of the matter is the general majority doesn't like certain topics, and forcing those topics to be included in something IS going to hurt sales, not help it. I mean, I doubt devs would have a poll that asks: "Would you buy our game if it forced LGBT topics into it when they don't fit?" and people wouldn't wanna answer it even if one had the stones to do it. The amount of people complaining about the possibly of LGBT content coming to Helldivers should be a pretty good picture of how the general public/playerbase feels about the issue. The general feel in the majority is that it is not wanted, and has no place in the game in the first place.

Honestly, most people probably just really don't care because they've got actual issues to worry about in their lives. And you're not calling the Steam community forums an accurate representation of general public opinion, are you?

Also, keep in mind that the vast majority of topics referencing this "issue" originate from clown farmers, who are being kept well-fed by the more witless and reactionary creatures in this place.

That being said; no, this game obviously doesn't need any added real world symbolism of any sort, be it national, religious or otherwise. There should only be Super Earth and everything surrounding that.

*looks at topic title*
Nope, no one asked.
You still unzipped and wave it around.

I mean you could say that, but I am pretty sure the actual numbers against it are far higher than ones for it, and that has pretty much been proven in general already, as your just dealing with a larger number of people in the majority.
You say it's been proven in general but where is the proof?

I've been alive long enough to remember when gay marriage wasn't legal in any US state. I'm sorry to say but your majority is not as major as you think it is.

You wanna elaborate a bit more on this proverb of yours? Because bear in mind the same could easily be stated for people who declare their annoyance for LGBT topics. Nobody asked or cared about that either.

I'd argue the people who are actually negatively affected by this topic are a minority as well.

Actual politics simply do not belong into video games, unless the video game is literally about politics.

In the case of Helldivers 2, it obviously doesn’t take itself too seriously (which is a good thing) but instead uses satire, although democracy is mentioned.

No one cares though, because it’s rather obvious - the whole game is advertised with spreading democracy, as a quip used every couple seconds in the trailers.
Spreading democracy with the (partly) absolute insane tools of war.

And that’s okay.

But when I (just for the sake of the example) buy a Call of Duty or Halo game, then I don’t need some pride flags to be shoved in, just for the sake of it.

If it fits the game, whatever, I genuinely don’t care. But if you, as a company feel like you have to shove some representation into games (and movies alike), just for the sake of staying politically correct, then you are completely out of touch.

Why are we banning colors and being proud of them?

I see this said but who actually arbitrates this and why?

There is no doubt corporate pandering that occurs but I've noticed that more often than not the same people who make a big deal out of it will just as easily make a big deal out of the most paltry of inclusions by devs who just happen to care.

There are Super Earth flags? My guy is wearing a skull cape and red goggles. It's like some kind of lego star wars man I would've built as a kid.

Not yet, no. But I‘m sure we‘ll be able to either hoist (like in the tutorial) and/or wear the flag of Super Earth soon enough.

I can imagine your character looks awesome already though!
