The 'instantly updates your progress' currency drops get you stuck in place sometimes. Why? Because there's a call and response between you and the servers that is taking an agonizingly long time right now.
When you pick up Super Credits, Requisition slips or War Medals in a mission, those deposit instantly, requiring a central server exchange. Samples don't do this call until you extract with them, with the 'pause' covered up by the score screen review going on.
I've not seen that 'pause' happen with opening the pods or bunkers, but on taking the materials within and only on those.
The upside is, even if you fail the mission or disconnect, what you found you keep. The downside being the server traffic that generates and the issue we're experiencing.
Because it was registering server side, just not client side.
Lots of people who want in, servers can't handle it, so you get a lot of forum activity. That and popularity brings political trolls with it. They'll leave eventually (most of them) but I've been racking up blocks because of it.
