I don’t get it.
The game’s fine. I own it on PS5 and have played it a few hours. It does what it says on the tin. But: It feels like you’re running through mud, there’s no real level design and it’s all one layer, and first-person ADS has OP recoil reduction so you have to be constantly switching perspectives which is really jarring.

Every time I play it, I think, this is fun, but I’d be having more fun playing EDF or DRG. Those games objectively offer way more variety than this does.

Why is this game doing so well? It’s not cornering a niche, and it’s not the best game in the genre, and nobody’s arguing that it is.

This game is all about Freedom and Democracy with quirky one liners and quotes. It sells, especially in North America.

You're not a super soldier fighting aliens with a variety of weapons in your hand, you're a regular soldier who isn't expected to live for too long. That said, the movement feels fine for me. I don't know about the first person since i'm fine on third person, and i agree on the level design.

The game is very fun, play it with people, increase the difficulty levels and see how chaotic it gets. If you think fighting the Terminids is bad, wait till the bots start hounding you. :D

Ever played EDF? You get caves and beaches and FULLY DESTRUCTIBLE CITIES and subways and secret bases and and and…

HD2 is just hills and some copy-pasted outposts.
