Another potential AMD fix
Read carefully, because I am an AMD 7000 series GPU owner and same as others I was having crashes with Helldivers 2 and searching forums for a fix, but none of those I found were working: disabling global illumination and antialiasing was reducing crashes, but not removing them entirely.

The solution is super simple. First, remove anything from this folder
%APPDATA%\Arrowhead\Helldivers2\shader_cache
(it’s DX12 shader cache).
Then go to Steam Library, Helldivers 2, right click, select Properties, General, and add to launch options:
--use-d3d11

To check your current rendering API in game use RTSS (Rivatuner Statistics Server), don’t rely on AMD overlay - it takes a lot of time to refresh data and can show you wrong information. Also, after you quit the game, check the shader_cache folder again - if you were by DX11, it will be empty.

You can also do it for NVidia GPU if you’ve got crashes.

Lastly, for people who are living in countries where the energy price is just crazy, don't go for more than 60 FPS. If you are not limiting your FPS (using AMD chill), your consumption will be at 300 watts for a 7900xt. With chill @60FPS your consumption will be at 120 watts. Unless you like throwing money for a bit of visual smoothness and you want to mock scientist warnings about the current state of ecology.

And you can also do these steps:
Settings -> Gaming -> Game mode
Enable game mode.
Then go Related Settings -> Graphics
Add an app, find your helldivers2.exe and on options select “Power saving”.

Thank you so much. This is the only working fix for me with rx 7900 xtx. Before this I even tested the new helldivers 2 drivers but that didnt work as with everything else. Now i can play without any fos or clock limitations without crashing. When using directx11 i even gained like +30/50 fps on average.

Up - worked for my friend with AMD. OP - I suggest you to post it in Support section, otherwise it will get lost here, in General.

I can't find this anywhere :(

Open your file explorer window, copy this exact line
%APPDATA%\Arrowhead\Helldivers2\shader_cache
and paste it into the address bar. Hit enter. You're there.

Wow so much efforts, and you could just install new 24.2.1 drivers. But well done, I guess. :steamhappy:

Yup I manage to play 3 full missions without crashing for the first time, they fix the timeouts

Wow! So much effort and you could just figure out that the new drivers don't fix anything! But well done, I guess

Still crashing with the new drivers, happening less often but still ... crashing. So no, when you're on Impossible or Helldive, it's just not possible. Also thanks for your compassion, but it was no effort to me at all. Furthermore, the question behind that simple easy fix is : for what obscure reason the developers did not tell their users about it, because you just need to understand - it's Stingray engine they are using and they're supposed to know it and the switches tied to it ... so ??? wow

5800X3D / 7900XTX and still crashing with GPU hangs on the latest drivers. This DirectX change sorted everything for me though. Played for 4 hours straight without issue

I didn't do this change and just using the BETA driver with a 5800X3D / 7900XTX and no crashing.

how do i know its launched from d3d11? doesnt give me the option next to play game

On a 7900 xtx, tried this and it still crashed after 2 hours of playing!
I can maybe try limiting FPS by using AMD CHILL like you said. So lets see

That is probably why the main topic starts with "read carefully". There is no convenient option provided by the devs to chose the API, so read the original post and follow the steps provided (easy ones, TBH).

The game doesn't crash when using DX11 - confirmed multiple times. If you're still crashing - you might have driver/system/bios issues you need to deal with. None of my friends had a single crash in a game before Helldivers 2, if it's not your case with an AMD GPU, then you've got a faulty system.

Bro you are a life saver!!!! I can actually play on max settings without crashing randomly. Big ups to you man. Take all my points!

Yeah this solved it so far. Hilarious that this simple thing is enough for something the devs were incapable of solving in 2 weeks.
