Voice Chat

I know voice chat is great for games like this but is it required all of the time for multiplayer? I've only done solo but I ask because I have 6 kids in the background all the time and I don't want to be bothersome to others.

No, dont worry about it. Maybe in the future if they decide to add in Raid content or something.

We just use pings and map commands, this is more than enough for 1-7 difficulty missions.

you can have voice chat on, but mute yourself. I've been in groups where people will just ping on the map where they want to go next and usually everyone will agree and head that way. Haven't had any groups so far that will aimlessly wander.

Just activate "push to talk". Then couphing or such things dont get heard by others. And yes, the voice chat is not requiered but it is awesome to have it. On the on hand to just chat a bit and find new friends and on the other hand to be a bit tactical

People definitely need to change the setting to "push to talk". Even if you don't have a lot of noise in the background... the clicking, echoing, breathing and stuff like that can be pretty annoying.

There is a push to talk feature, as others mentioned. I think you can also turn voice off if you don't want to hear others. And if you need to, you can type in chat to communicate.
