Do you think it's intended to lose the Automaton defense?
Specifically, the scientist rescue missions are way overtuned and I've seen some say it's a bug I wonder if they just made it that way to have it very unlikely that'd we could win the campaign. I've heard it said the game is spawning in enemies like it's a 40 minute mission (which is what the UI shows when you select it) but then your actual time is 15 minutes. So it's spawning 40 minutes worth of enemies in 15 minutes. I don't know if that's exactly true but that one mission type (and only that one) feels like 2.5x harder than any other mission in the game. Yes, I get it's not impossible but even "skill issue" bs aside that people love to meme about in-games, you should be able to admit that one exact mission type is either bugged or made to be extremely hard on purpose. The other missions for defense are fine but I also haven't found a single operation that didn't have that mission type in it which also makes me think they are intending for a community loss.

Ya..
What if they put the mechs behind a pay wall after doing this?
Add the server issues to the equation.
I'm thinking the player count is going to drop to the point where it's hard to find a match.

The defense missions are clearly still bugged. As for losing the planets, If people could stop diving at Meridia for 5 MINUTES....

I mean this in the nicest way, but this sounds like a skill issue and misuse of stratagems. Have won loads of these particular missions today. But it was intense as hell.

Tried to run them on level 4 with my wife (both level 10)... granted, she isn't the best HD2 player, she's definitely better than the average rando we pick up.

We got close in our two tries but never quite pulled it off.

Seems the key is to keep spamming the doors. With a 3rd person we may have tried using one person to pull some of the heat away from the base but with only two, if you seperate it seems you get stuck running for your life with no time or opportunity to do anything to thin the herd.

Lot of fun though...

These missions, at least up to difficultie 6 are properly doable. The problem is that most Helldivers i meet on these missions dont adapt their strategems and playstyle for the mission going in with 3 air/orbital strikes and a weapon instead of using defense turrets and mines. They throw a strike and cry that new enemys come soon after it hit instead of deploying a lasting turrent and calling for the civis to start running.

yeah looks a bit intended couple missions are bugged for ya to lose it took my group 4 tries on the 10 min 50 civ on impossible its tough if no one is holding a pod switch only like idk 22 percent last i checked got the achievement

Yeah, my suspicion is we're not meant to win this one. Obviously they want a dynamic and evolving galaxy going forward, with consequences or rewards based on whether or not the community can meet these goals, and it seems to me like they essentially want to run an early test on how a negative result will play out.

i don't think it's intentional to give people 15 minutes on a mission that is stated to be 40.

I've also won it a few times, but it requires specific loadouts, awareness, and positioning which isn't going to happen most of the time.

The stats say 0.1% of people have even played the mission, which can't possibly be true.

1% would be 5,000 people given approx 500k purchases on steam. .1 would be 500 people. I've probably done it 10 times total with 3 randoms which is 31 people, just me. My friend is almost level 50 and he's done it much more than me, for sake of argument if he did it as much as me, I'd doubt me and one other person + our groups are 12% of the people who've done it.

It's far easier explained by bugs in the mission and/or bugs due to server issues.

I think we are meant to lose it

Hopefully they don't. The game's launch is already pretty rough but being a very fun game without that bad of monetization is holding it up. They could probably get away with it for a bit but I think that would severely hurt the playerbase. This game is like Warframe in that all you really do is grind for new things and complete pretty varied missions but only like 7 mission types. It's by design is going to have a pretty large player drop off anyways once the hype dies down and people start getting to higher levels. It's a fun game but most aren't into grindy games. Monetizomg mechs will most likely alienate most the fans of HD1 who are probably the ones that would stay the longest anyways. So, they'd probably make a fair amount of money in the short term but lose heavily in the long term if they did that route

Seeing as we've almost taken back the planet we lost, I vote we let them take the planets, then we take them back. Who cares if we don't get 15,000 Reqs after over a week. You can easily make that in a few operations yourself.
Warhunter Feb 17, 2024 @ 1:54am
its just weird that the scientist extract mission was the ONLY mission to get insane spawn rates
meanwhile the rest of the missions are a complete cakewalk compared to the new escort mission

like if we were supposed to lose then EVERY mission type should have insane spawn rates.
the exterminate missions might actually become fun if it had the same spawn rate as the new specialist extract. instead of the snore fest where you just afk and shoot a couple enemies every few min

No, we're not intended to lose. We just have a lot of poor Helldivers dying and losing faster than the coordinated teams can win. Then another portion are off bugchasing or whatever. Some people can't handle the pressure the Automatons put on I think. It's all a skill issue.

Okay cool, enjoy being dragged down with all us peasants then.

Of course not. We simplzy lost because it wasn't balanced and people were failing like crazy.

Even winning feels like a scam. 100% liberation? ♥♥♥♥ off doesn't count. Need samples? ♥♥♥♥ off. Also enjoy making less requisition and exp than a basic mission on easy or medium.

This mission is really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ over the new guys who come in, get screamed at by a spoiled baby that owns level 10+ toys who rage quits, and sticks it out for the win to get... essentially ♥♥♥♥ all.

The server antics are just the latest insult to injury. How can I honestly tell them to stick with it when they are just getting screwed over left and right? Anyone trying to blame skill issues should get in there with level 4 and under gear then, but I am pretty sure they would rather uninstall than use a basic machinegun and pump action shotgun again.

That's what I'm thinking too. Apparently they had an MG101 portable HMG Stratagem at launch, which was removed a few hours afterwards. Supposedly they commented on this (very in character) that the HMG wasn't supposed to be there yet.

Then the they apparently reduced the progress on the bugs a lot of times which they probably had to do because they had a lot more players than they expected

And robots have lots of medium armor, HMG penetrates medium armor...would be too perfect no?

But I will add that if they intended this to be not winnable, then they should've just cranked up the robots progress and not made that one mission basically impossible lol.
