CPU apparently reaches 100C degrees, any ideas why
Every time I launch the game my CPU temp suddenly reaches 100 degrees with 100% utilization, no more no less. And it only happens with this game. I usually use Speccy to check the temps for games and they are pretty accurate I believe but with Helldivers 2 it feels weird, so not sure if it's a bug or something. The game also runs like crap most of the time, when on the ship I get like 90fps on the lowest settings possible (1080p) but while in a mission it can go as far down as 35-40. So, not sure if it's a game problem or my PC problem. Any ideas why?

I have:
Intel Core i7 7700 @ 3.60GHz
ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. H110M-D motherboard
16 gigs of RAM
RTX 2060

Second, doesn't look like laptop so:

Hardware, cooling isn't sufficient and until now nothing you have done (100% utilisation or otherwise) game program or anything has slammed your processor this hard until now.

Couple that with some dust build up, aging thermal paste, degrading fans and you have the problem of thermals creeping to their limit.

Easy fixes for now in order of ease are:

Adjust your fan curves for more rpms at higher temps to arrest the temperature lower when it gets close to the limit. Use the software that comes with your system and gpu or google some other options.

Clean your dust filters THOROUGHLY. wipe down all of the fan blades to remove the dust and grease from them and be sure to clean any heat sink grills with a long bristled radiator brush and compressed air/blower.
Dust and grime impacts their effectiveness massively and your pc will cycle through the air in an average sized bedroom every minute.

Change out the thermal paste on the cpu, it can become less effective over time.

New cooling solution, better fans or higher capacity heat sink.

Cooling problems are NOTHING to do with software, the hardware is designed to be capable of running 100% 24/7 under full load if the cooling can keep up.

If the cooling cannot keep up then that is not the software's fault, it is irrelevant how poorly optimised the code is, the hardware is not being cooled properly.

For starters, put an FPS cap through the Nvidia control panel, that should mitigate it mostly, as the game has no built in cap for some reason.

The other thing is that the recent patches have impacted performance for alot of people, so that might be a problem as well.

Yeah, potato PC without the proper cooling for this generation of games. I have an i7 13700k and it runs between 60-75% cpu usage, but run at 50°celsius at maximum. UE4 or UE5 and other engines based on them uses a lot of cpu

The vast majority of people I've seen bring up this issue almost always seemed to be using Intel my 5800x3d is pretty cold playing this game hangs around 55c, 26w, 35% and my whole pc is air cooled.

If you are reaching cpu temps of 100 C, game is throttling. Get a new thermal paste and get better cpu cooler. Cap the frames or use vsync.
CPU cooler air or water ?

There were so many patches that game files may be corrupted. Verify steam game files. Steam will ask you to delete gameguard, hit yes.

Do you play other games as CPU intensive as this one? I had the same thing happened and it turned out my water cooler quit cooling. I could play a lot of games but a few that were CPU intensive caused my pc to behave the same way. This game also uses an anti-cheat that is kernel based, that could be causing issues. Are all your motherboard drivers up to date? Specifically bios and cpu? Are your GPU drivers up to date?

This is really good advice in general, too many games these days don't put framerate caps in, especially on loading or menu screens.

You now remember that time that Blizzard forgot to do this for StarCraft II on the main menu screen and peoples computers were shutting down because of it

Seems like your pc is overheating maybe? Could it be that its thermal throttling? Otherwise limit you max. fps via nvidia settings. Also you got a water cooling? Maybe the pump is not working anymore?

Thank you all for the help! Looks like it's mostly a cooling problem so I will look into that, have a nice day

i found the fix for me, just kill in task manager all the fan software like MSI afterburner, riva turner, L Connect etc. Seem like the anti cheat software doesnt like it
