Support weapons.

im sorry if this has been asked already but im just wondering why when you pick a support weapon (or even more) you don't just drop with one already equip. It seems both a hassle to spawn it every mission start and just kind of logistically backwards in world. It just makes sense to send your soldiers down with... their equipment already?

that isn't really an explanation though? I know its a stratagem I still think the first support weapon stratagem you select you just have when you deploy... that should actually apply to all of your Equipment stratagems. You should still be able to call them in but start it with its normal cooldown running so you cant just spawn extras out the gate.

it would save like 10 seconds and an incredibly tedious action at the start of literally every mission.

you can equip 1 main, 1 secondary, 1 support and one backpack, find what works for you before a resupply is needed

guy wants their support weapon EQUIPPED at the start without calling it down

because if you had it equipped when you dropped, you wouldnt have the total cluster-f of landing in a hot zone without your support weapon and trying to call it down and get it without dying.

thats my guess why you dont drop with any support weapon. It can create hectic situations. It seems silly when you land far away from enemies and stand around throwing a tonne of strategems out, but Ive dropped a few times and had some crazy first moments that would just not have happened if I had my Stalwart in hand

Because it's not just for you. it's a tool to call in just like any of the other stratagems, whether it's a bomb for the bugs or a shield for your team.

You can call them in multiple times. You can call it in for yourself, and as soon as it's off cooldown, call it in for another diver. Freeing up a stratagem slot for them.
If you are the support weapon guy in the team, you're potentially opening up 3 stratagem slots for whatever else the team needs. 1 for each of your other team members.

im aware how they ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ work didn't really need an explanation for that. It just seems logistically dumb that a support weapon isn't already one your person when you drop the first time. not at any point did i say you COULDNT still call it down again later.

This is the take I believe the devs decided to go with. It creates scenarios where if you drop into a hot area, you don't immediately have it. And I like it. Creates a little bit more difficulty.

Or design choice. If you hop into a hot area, it creates a little bit more difficulty and chaos.

You don't really need to bring support weapons yourself, just steal some from other players when they die.
