The Scythe is also pretty accurate so you could use that instead, especially since it puts out a constant stream of damage so it's less punishing if you miss because their heads are wiggling about too much or they're walking over uneven terrain or something.
Once you get access to it, the Autocannon is your best friend against bots; fast, solid damage, explosive and it penetrates the armour of everything up to a Hulk. You'll have to hit the Hulk directly in the eye with the Autocannon to hurt him from the front, but it DOES work.
Solid advice.
Bots are very different from bugs. You need weapons that allow you to semi-reliably aim for weakspots. Ironically almost all weapons achieve this currently (including shotguns and the infamous Breaker). On the same topic: you basically need the shield backpack or risk dying in a single hit to a stray rocket.
Are you aiming for their soft, squishy head?
Can you even tell us what the proper name of the enemies you are complaining about are?
Kind of agree there, and more generally that headshots are better against the cyborgs.
Bugs have weak points but they aren't always easy to hit or possible to hit from long range.
so your answer is "no primary weapon."
ok.
Using stratagem weapons to fight heavy or elite enemies is pretty normal, yes.
There are light armoured bugs that cannot be shot from the front. If OP can deal with this then they can deal with Automatons.
If the enemies are too strong, do missions on a lower difficulty level. Pretty much everything you need to kill heavily armoured enemies can be unlocked by level 10. If you want different primary weapons you need to earn more medals - they are not linked to your character level.
For hulk, it takes 2 autocanons to their little tiny face or about 4-5 in their glowing backpack exhaust it seems
I would also like to point out, that almost all automotons have a weakspot. Shoot the weakspot and itll go down easier. (Weakspots are normally glowing red.)
