Bots immune to bullets, what weapons
So I am using the dmr, love the gun, but for whatever reason my bullets bounce off of every target or take like 2 mags to drop some of the bigger ones. WTF am I supposed to use to make this not super aggravating to play?

Loved this game but man, between bullets not going where my scope aims and enemies that are just immune to everything but heavy ordinance *THAT I AM STILL TOO LOW LEVEL TO HAVE ACCESS TO* it just feels really bad

The DMR is actually one of the better weapons for bots because you can aim for their heads and pop them a lot easier than other people can; if you can pop their brains, even the big boys like Demolishers go down in two hits. Don't try it on a Hulk, though.

The Scythe is also pretty accurate so you could use that instead, especially since it puts out a constant stream of damage so it's less punishing if you miss because their heads are wiggling about too much or they're walking over uneven terrain or something.

Once you get access to it, the Autocannon is your best friend against bots; fast, solid damage, explosive and it penetrates the armour of everything up to a Hulk. You'll have to hit the Hulk directly in the eye with the Autocannon to hurt him from the front, but it DOES work.

Solid advice.

Bots are very different from bugs. You need weapons that allow you to semi-reliably aim for weakspots. Ironically almost all weapons achieve this currently (including shotguns and the infamous Breaker). On the same topic: you basically need the shield backpack or risk dying in a single hit to a stray rocket.

Are you crouched while firing?

Are you aiming for their soft, squishy head?

Can you even tell us what the proper name of the enemies you are complaining about are?

Kind of agree there, and more generally that headshots are better against the cyborgs.

Bugs have weak points but they aren't always easy to hit or possible to hit from long range.

so a stratagem weapon?

so your answer is "no primary weapon."

ok.

Using stratagem weapons to fight heavy or elite enemies is pretty normal, yes.

There are light armoured bugs that cannot be shot from the front. If OP can deal with this then they can deal with Automatons.

If the enemies are too strong, do missions on a lower difficulty level. Pretty much everything you need to kill heavily armoured enemies can be unlocked by level 10. If you want different primary weapons you need to earn more medals - they are not linked to your character level.

Anti Material Rifle (stratagem support weapon) is actually a pretty good support you unlocked way early before you can get Auto Cannon / Rail Gun. The trick is to aim at the read glowy head of the target. On the medium robots, you can 1 tap headshot them. Hulk might need a couple shot especially to the back, but you should prob use something else to deal with it.

For hulk, it takes 2 autocanons to their little tiny face or about 4-5 in their glowing backpack exhaust it seems

Use the Autocannon, it's legit one of the best things in the game. As soon as you're level 10, get it.
I would also like to point out, that almost all automotons have a weakspot. Shoot the weakspot and itll go down easier. (Weakspots are normally glowing red.)
