CPU usage 100 percent
Anyone else just start having the game eat up 100% cpu? It was running fine up until about 30 minutes ago and now its super heating my CPU. Not a hardware issue, can run any other game fine without it spiking in temperatures. my frames are capped to 144 and even lowered the quality to lowest in the game and it still happens.

EDIT: it is not a PC issue for the people who arent experiencing it, I dont care to here "Its not happening to me!" Game was working fine until recently, happened mid game where temps spiked and now CPU usage is constantly at 100 percent. It is strictly the anticheat and game using all cpu, even after closing everything it continues to eat up any available cpu. I see some other people have randomly had similar problems, I am asking to see if it started effected anyone else and what they did to fix it

After yesterday patch I have noticed that it starting to runs hot when I'm locking fps in settings in game. Before patch there was no such option or I am not remembering it. Then I have unticked lock fps and my PC is silent again. Maybe this will give you some insight.

The sad part is I have a feeling they won't optimize the game. I remember when they asked Todd Howard when they were going to optimize Starfield and he just said it already was and ignored the issue. I feel like more devs pushback against complaints about optimization because they don't want to waste the time.

Set render to ultra quality and reduce the render range of objects. That will take the most load off your cpu. HD2 does have a bug causing cpus to run at max percentage causing heating issues and crashes. Guy posted about it the first couple days after launch.

Disable hyperthreading, you don't lose any performance and it cuts down the cpu usage by about 25-30%. Automate it via process lasso instead of applying the change on task manager every time you boot the game.

Hello everyone, I will try to do my part here.

I can confirm that there might be something not working correctly with the in-game frame limiter introduced in a previous patch.

When I enable the frame limiter the CPU hits 70%.

A workaround that seems to work is to disable the frame limiter and limit the FPS using an external program (Nvidia panel if you are on Windows, not sure how to limit FPS with AMD, or using Mangohud if you are on Linux/Steam Deck)

How to cap the FPS in Linux using Mangohud

Go to the game properties > change launch options to:

MANGOHUD_CONFIG="fps_limit=60" gamemoderun mangohud %command%

Run and check the overlay UI showing the FPS correctly capped at 60 and the CPU usage should be lowered again.

Once you have confirmed everything is working correctly, you can disable the overaly UI:

MANGOHUD_CONFIG="fps_limit=60,no_display" gamemoderun mangohud %command%

This is my current (probably temporarily until they fix it in another patch) fix to this issue.

Noticing different temps and % usage when using the in game fps limiter vs radeon chill, so there's definitely something going on with it.

I have an i7 12700 and an RTX 3060

With everything on the lowest settings my task manager says my CPU usage is at 100% with the game using about 75%
but Core Temp says my usage on all cores is on avg 55% with avg temp around 65c
Is that normal?

It's Discord for me. Discord is using <10%, game is maxing out CPU. When I shut down Discord the game drops to 50%, weird.

There's no reason the average 90 FPS I'm getting should be maxing out my CPU and sending my CPU above 80c. I can get 300+ in other games with nowhere near the same problems.

Yeah the optimization sucks big time... Can run any other intensive game on both of my PC's, but one of them is having a stroke instantly with this game, and another PC starts behaving similarly after some time (~30min)...

You might need a better cooling solution.

if its an amd cpu download ryzen master and enable eco mode.
