Different game version- cannot join friends

Is anyone else running into this problem? My friend and I are trying to play together but cannot join each other's lobbies due to 'different game versions'.

We've both relaunched and made sure everything is up to date. The only possibly thing I can think of is he bought the super citizen thing when he purchased the game, I did not. Surely there's no way in a game that's cross platform THAT is what the 'difference version' issue is and we can't play together cause he got extra cosmetics, basically?

Update just dropped, try restarting the game or steam.

Restart Steam, there's probably an update you missed.

Uninstaller the dlc, you still get everything but it messes with it. Just happened to me

go to library > downloads > open download settings > clear download cache > sign in again > then you will get the latest update

It's doing the same crap in June. I have auto updated on, and I've restarted my PC and Steam multiple times.
