POI not showing up on maps?
I was told by another player that you can hover your mouse over the map to find minor points of interest. I was doing it earlier with him. Now that I'm playing alone, I can't seem to get those points of interest to come up on the map. Even when I see one on my compass, it's not showing up on the map.

I have the scout perk and radar booster equipped. What am I doing wrong?

Not sure if it still works (you don't need scout armor), open your map and hold your right mouse button so you can move the indicator across the map. If you get it perfect you may see the text "point of interest" pop up but it won't stay and pretty sure that's unintended.

On difficulties above 3 you will usually have enemies on points of interest so setting a pin with scout armor will show you enemies and as such you can guess that objectives and points of interest are near them. Though scout armor pings also have a max range, so they won't show you enemies on the other side of the map. You can set a pin with by pressing your left mouse button on the map.

There's a weird bug that makes it so the first mission you run every time you boot the game, the POIs will not be highlighted when you mouse over them. Why? No idea, but if you boot up a second mission it'll work. I've done hundreds upon hundreds of lvl 1 SC runs and it's been pretty consistently no indicator for the first run of the day and then the second one it works as intended.

Every once and awhile it does bug out and not show them.

Thanks everyone. I gave all three of you a helpful award.

I remember reading somewhere that it may be because when you do the first mission in an operation, you have no Intel on the terrain so they don't show up. On subsequent missions, then they will show up. Not sure if true or it's just a convenient explanation for it.

Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I've heard it's related to the Recon booster, or armour that has the "Scout" perk - it's meant to apply to the person who uses it, but instead it applies to the whole team? Something like that.

Sometimes you can hover and scan the map with your pointer and it'll show you POIs and sometimes you can't. I used to argue with my friends about this, as they'd often not be able to see it, and sometimes they could. My host friend always wore Scout armour to search for patrols, meanwhile I was always either Fortified, Padded or Engineer, yet I could still scan for POIs.

I've never truly worked out what causes it, but I'm 99% certain it's related to either the Scout armour perk or the UAV Booster thing. Possibly it is only shared between clients, not the host, or the host shares it forever if they equip that armour once during a session? I wish I knew.

Well, I guess it could be that too, actually.

Doesn't explain why it's so random though, and sometimes my friends can see POIs and sometimes I can't, or vice versa. It's never consistent, but it seems more common than not that I can see the POIs. I'm never the host.

It wouldn't surprise me if there's some code somewhere accidentally applying some function that is supposed to be commented out in the code and relegated to a perk or booster bonus, but somehow it gets uncommented after the first mission in a session.

God only knows, and he's not telling.

Not this, but it's a cool theory. I always do missions on Trivial difficulty so there are no subsequent missions. I can always hover the POIs once I've completed one run, but never on the first one. It's extremely consistent.

It's supposed to be a feature that's baked-in as far as I'm aware. No booster or armor needed. If the armor/booster did have that effect, Arrowhead usually likes to at least allude to that sort of thing in the perk description. I never run scout armor or the recon booster when I'm trying to find POIs for SC.

Now this I've got no answer for. It may have something to do with the variations that POIs have on higher difficulties that just causes things to not work properly, or it could just be your standard Helldivers jank. The theory that it's supposed to be a booster/armor thing that just only applies after one mission makes sense but I don't know what perk it would be working with. My guess as to why it does this is just that the minimap doesn't properly register what's on it until you've fully loaded in and out of a mission at least once.
Try a mission on a different planet. I tried it just now and I think it worked, at least some of the POIs are showing up instead of none at all. Lemme know if this worked for anyone

Seriously? People still think you need those?

The only thing scout perk and radar booster do is show you enemies around a PoI, it does not show the actual PoI.

You can find PoI's without scout perk and radar booster if the map is small enough. If the map is larger, you will need to zoom in significantly for it to show up.
