Try Deep rock galactic or Darktide maybe you'll be happier with those.
Left 4 Dead 2 is still a popular classic.
Deep Rock is fairly similar, although the environments can be confusing to traverse at first.
Vermintide/Darktide are similar, with more rpg elements.
For the guns in helldivers 2 i feel many are very effective. The scorcher is strong as many support weapons even. The assault rifle like adjudicator have quiet a punch. The sickle is good for automatic fire with literally unlimit ammo. The diligence counter sniper one hits most smaller enemys. If you feel that the primary weapons are ineffective against armored enemys... yes, that the thing. For those you need AT support weapons or stratagems, of which there are soooo many which bombs those armored enemys to hell... so, i dont know
