Hellbombs
Why on gods green earth do you think a hellbomb is destroyable while its armed and about to blow up. im pretty sure if i threw a grenade at an armed nuke, IT WOULD EXPLODE. Fix this ♥♥♥♥ its so unplayable to have to fight 4 gunships and protect a cardboard hellbomb.

honestly, yeah, why do they just break apart when being shot at or throw explosives at? wouldn't that just, make them blow even faster?

Nukes require extreme precision to set off. If you just throw a grenade at it, you'll activate it's explosives improperly, and just scatter the radioactive material without triggering the desired chain reaction.

Im fairly certain its an oversight as they didnt take into account that state it should be in once its armed, unfortunately not everyone in a public lobby will bring a support weapon to take them out so taking on 4 at a time is an unreasonable challenge with no alternative ways to destroy the fabricators

So you can drop it, run away and blow from a distance? Too easy.

I guess because this is not a Simulator game, I see your viewpoint though it is weird and whacky.

Brother, the AI targets the bomb, it doesnt matter how far you run, even a smaller melee bot can destroy an armed hellbomb with a few whacks, its not working as intended, let alone against a volley of 6-8 rockets from 4 ships

Nukes are litterally dropped from the sky to set off the chain reaction, the precision is in the building, not in the detonation.

ahhh. no.
Nukes are dropped form the sky to make them land where they're wanted.
They have a 'fairly' precise mechanisim that combines the uranium/plutonuim, and if that dis broken or the electronics are disabled, before the insertion process is completed inside the weapon, then 'nothing' happens. it's not like C4, or gasoline, or dynamite where it requires a 'spark' or a 'primer' to set off; it requires 2 sets of fusion and fission reactions to create a neutron bomb, which in turn creates the 'uranium blanket' that nukes are so famous for.

That being said, because of the nature of what a nuke is; they are built to be incredibly sturdy and anything short of a tank round would likely not prevent it from going off once the stage one reaction was triggered.

Yep, destroy, but not detonate. Personally I treat it as a small challenge. Again, otherwise you could spawn a hellbomb and run away from it and then blow up from a safe distance. Without that you HAVE to ensure nothing destroys it and you HAVE to also solve that captcha and run away.

There are also some random damaged hellbombs on the map that you can detonate by shooting at them, so yeah, guess there is some logic behind.

yep.
hell bombs, also, aren't technically nukes, either. at least they aren't referred to as nukes, considering there is an actual SEAF Artillery Shell called 'mini nuke'.

I'll admit I'm not particularly knowledgeable when it comes to nuclear bombs, but isn't it a cap of tnt placed around a plutonium core?

IIRC the explosives are fairly stable as well so you could theoretically burn it, cause it to explode knock it around while it's armed and it wouldn't detonate unless there was some fail safe implemented.

A better solution to this would be to have the bots try and take some time to defuse the hellbomb instead of just slash at it till it pops like a balloon. The challenge of the hellbomb is calling it down, defending it and getting to the terminal to arm it. Once those steps are done, the challenge should be over, you did it. Its like if Counter terrorists in CSGO could just shoot the bomb or throw a grenade on site and win.

Yeah, Hellbombs in the wild can go off like that but the one from us doesn't?
Make sense.

A real Democratic Helldiver would Stand his Ground on the Hellbomb and defend it until his las to ensure he missions' success....
