Precision strike works for taking out a single building.
380 barrage can clear large bug nests or bot bases, but please throw 75m away or warn your team.
Orbital laser can also clear multiple buildings, etc.
Edit: Laser won't focus bug holes though.
500KG has worse availability and range but also takes out heavily armored units, which makes it a strong substitute.
Orbital Laser is probably the best for taking out a whole fortified area with multiple buildings without entering it but is limited by a long cooldown and limited uses.
Railcannon strike will take out a single fabricator if nothing else large is in the area (I'm actually not 100% sure what the targeting priorities are).
I also have fondness for the starter Orbital Precision Strike, because it's simple, focused, and relatively fast cooldown.
500kg can blow up some things that airstrike can't. The research lab, for instance. It can't do every job a hellbomb can, but it can do some of them.
The big barrages (120mm or 380mm) are a mixed bag - they can outright clear a whole base area with luck, but they're random enough that they might not, and the safe way to use them is mostly to throw them one way and then run the other.
I don't think I'd recommend any other strategems for demolition purposes.
Railcannon is a good callout because of how generous the targeting is. It lets you hit some fabricators that may be outside of normal throwing range.
For fabricators i like 500k bomb since you can call it down far more often than the orbital laser.
Also, anything you call down on a fab like a resupply or your backpack/weapons for example destroys it if you land it on top. Same with bug holes though there are a lot more of them.
Weapons that are worth using and you can close holes with imo are grenade pistol/grenade launcher, quasar, autocannon and the new eruptor.
I'm fairly new and have noticed that the default orbital strike often doesn't take out even the smaller buildings. Even when the marker is literally ON the building. But every time someone brings down the laser, it seems to kill every base nearly instantly. So yeah, tips on a good "this will kill the base" strategem would be great. I see people use hellbombs a lot, but i'm looking for something I can call down from outside an enemy base, without having to run in and press buttons on it.
I'm still not even sure why people suggest it in the first place. It's not that the other call downs are better, the 380 and 120 simply don't do anything useful yet that I've seen.
I've used them both maybe a dozen times each, and doesn't matter where I throw the beacon, they simply don't hit any targets I need them to. I've tried dead center of bases/nests, I've tried off to the side a bit. I've never even seen a team mate use it to do something besides use up reinforcements.
I just don't understand where people are using them? Nobody brings them on anything 7+ It seems like every time you call it down, you are relying on luck to do the job. If they could provide consistent behavior, I would use them for something as I've been able to do with most strats.
