Edit: Whether this is woke pandering or not I don't really mind because IMO they found a way to tangibly do it without stamping on any of the factions or their lore.
They did more than just that, they also insulted their customers by lying to them and claiming the chapter always had female space marines in it. Yet there is a lot of lore referencing the opposite and none that supported GWs claim.
A quick search on the 2 individuals shows that it is basically fan fiction memes. aka wishful thinking on those fans part. As for Slaanesh, a chaos faction in 40k that has demons that blend men and women into one. The faction/concept/Chaos god has been in the game for 30+ years and had nothing to do with politics at the time. In fact, given the current state GW is in, don't be surprised that the whole concept of gender hybrid demons disappears from 40k entirely.
Sisters of Silence already exist. There was always a female Counterpart to Custodes. This is not about women in the Throne Room, because there always were female Warriors present to protect Space King.
This is simply about an uninspired british Plastic Vendor, which should FIRE their PR Manager, fire that Storywriter and tell their american Shareholders Equality ALWAYS existed in the Throne Room!
Next Stop: Brotherhood of Silence!
ummm...
"The Adeptus Custodes, known as the Legio Custodes during the era of the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy, and colloquially as the "Ten Thousand," is the Imperial adepta responsible for protecting the Imperial Palace and the physical body of the Emperor of Mankind, as well as serving as His most important emissaries, His companions, and the keepers of His many secrets. The Custodes is an elite cadre of genetically-engineered transhuman warriors who are even more potent in combat than the Adeptus Astartes. They are to the Space Marines as the Emperor is to His primarchs, and it is rumoured that each was created by the Master of Mankind personally. His might permeates them, burns in their eyes and flows through their veins as surely as their blood. As such, the Adeptus Custodes are widely regarded as the deadliest warriors in the galaxy, Human or otherwise." --Adeptus Custodes Wiki
They are advanced space marines. There is so much lore supporting the fact that they are only men, from them only taking the sons of nobles for the Custodes to all the art work since the 80s being of male Custodes. Let's not forget that the process to become a space marine is not an easy one and that only men survive that.
But it isn't really about people liking or not liking the fact that there are now female space marines. It is more about how it is being handled by GW. That is the primary issue. Not respecting lore, lazily shoehorning women into a chapter and then lying. As I stated earlier in the thread, they should have just made a brand new chapter of women space marines and claimed they were the emperor's pet project that he kept hidden. But I have a suspicious feeling that all the new codexes and models will include female space marines. They are basically gutting the lore to push RW politics.
