Also if it had a dash mechanic, maybe using half the fuel cost, that would be pretty cool

1) Only wear light armor
2) Only hit it while sprinting
3) Hit it off as high of an object as you can, or down an incline
Those 3 things right there will vastly extend the range on this thing, and once you learn the actual jump height you can get to places you simply can not get to otherwise which, if you're halfway smart, is a huge deal.
Would I bring it on a bot mission though? No, I would not, and it's because movement doesn't matter as much when the enemy can just shoot you in the face.
Jump pack is my #2 favorite backpack item, and I almost can't believe that people think it's bad.
