Crash on boot with dx11
As they said in the guides, delete the shaders folder from %appdata%, put this command in the game boot menu - "--use-d3d11" and everything should work. BUT, for some reason, after adding the command, when I start the game, a black screen appears for about 5 seconds and then the game crashes. I don't understand how people use dx11...

This sounds stupid but its often the simplest solution before tinkering with stuff, have you uninstalled and reinstalled the game?

Yeah for some reason I also can't start the game in dx11, my GPU fans just ramp up and I get a black screen.

Luckily for me the game runs well in dx12 no problem.

Well since you give no information i give you 1 general answer that might help.

Take a look in Reliability History and EventViewer.

Either one or both may be capturing error codes, warnings, or even informational events just before or at the time of the crashes.

There's been probably only one case where there's been a option to use DX12 or DX11 and 12 was the better choice.

DX12 is pretty much always the worst choice when you could use Vulkan or DX11. Its just never done properly, has issues and runs worse. Thats why people use it.

Try running the built in Windows Troubleshooters. The troubleshooters may may and fix something.

Also run "sfc /scannow" and "dism"

Do you have problems with leaving youtube or anything open in a web browser? Also 6800 xt owner and I would get driver timeouts constantly that would require full system reboot since restarting drivers shortcut did nothing and this would happen in many demanding games where the monitor would just shut down with no signal. Only fix was to update the gpu bios firmware witch was very difficult to find.

Do not use what you do not understand.

No, I didn’t try... I didn’t want to bother with the settings, but so be it, I’ll try to do it now. I didn’t think that deleting the entire folder could really help... Because the main idea is to clear the shaders... as I thought...

Interesting.
I was led to believe it was the Shaders, i wonder what else that folder has that could cause problems.
GHDW Apr 13, 2024 @ 3:42pm
You can just delete "user_settings.config" in the helldivers2 appdata folder
