Friend has a mic problem
Making this post for a friend. He's having a weird problem with his mic where he loads up Helldivers and his mic stops working both in-game and in the discord call. He is only having this issue when trying to play Helldivers. Anyone know a solution?

I have a similar issue. Mic works fine in discord and other games, but not Helldivers.

Same issue; Mic doesn't work in Helldivers while actively working on other programs. I'm using an Audio Technica XLR w/ a USB DAC; Helldivers doesn't seem to detect I have a Mic connected at all

I'm having a very similar issue. All my buddies hear in Helldivers is static when I key up or speak. My mic works just fine in all other applications including Steam Chat and Discord. This kind ridiculous if I'm honest.

Do you use Nvidia RTX voice/Nvidia broadcast? that causes a lot of problems these days. My friend had the robotic mic issue when using RTX voice, when the game was loaded it would mess it up both in game and in Discord until he closed the game.

Solution was to stop using RTX voice and or close and restart it after launching the game.

As for the others, it may be bluetooth related if you have a bluetooth device connected (For anyone having audio issues anyway, the solution was to disable hands free audio).

I've tried 5 headsets with this game and my voice chat doesn't work with any of them. I can hear everything, but nobody can hear me talking. It's very frustrating, as I play a lot, and this is the ONLY game i have that has this issue.

No issues here. I don't think it's a game issue

Well, it may be. I have the exact same problem, and never had this issue with any other game.

It's probably the anticheat going after an audio driver that he uses

disable other microphone devices you have and make sure the mic you do have is set as default in your sound settings

My friends and I have had the same issue since launch. We use steam chat for all games, literally 100's of games we have played together. In helldivers that chat instantly stops working the second you get in game forcing us to use game chat instead.

It is definitely something associated with this game, we have never had that issue before with any games, not once.

Yeah, it's how it's set on my side. Doesn't work at all.

Game may be choosing wrong mic. If you have discord open there could be a possibility that one app is fighting over rights to own the mic. Such that if discord is open it won't let Helldivers use the mic. Try turning off all other apps see what happens.

Make sure that the mic you want to use is set as default both as recording and communication device in the recording tab of the sound control panel. Helldivers uses the default communication device.

Random guess is that game starts using a different mic (Like one in a controller or monitor) Something something windows settings to change from default to whatever you want to use and same for discord.

As the last 3 replies are fairly Identical I will say that I only have and use one mic and it is set to default and I still get this issue. My buddy who bought the same identical alienware computer as mine has the same exact issue. For whatever reason, I have another buddy with an older computer that does not have this problem.
