I personally joined the other week for one operation in my lunch break, finished it, then went back to work.
On the weekend I did not feel like playing a lot, so I finished 2 operations with the random team I got and then left doing my own business.
sometimes you just don't have the energy to keep going, so rather then slow down and sabotage the rest of the campaign, you just leave so that fresher helldivers can join in and take over.
But on average, this is a "play a few games and go do something else" type of game.
Or it's late and I really need to leave :P
Or have you considered that people with daily jobs and/or familial obligations play this game too? And that they might have not have more than an hour to spend on this game? So after a 40 minute mission, they just might not be able to continue playing due to these little facts.
But yeah, right now it seems to be connection and stability problems that are causing people to drop a lot lately.
