Actually... Helldivers 2 has run on Linux since day 1...
yes, lets remove the anticheat from the game for the tiny amount of people on linux.
What i'm sure the devs are saying lol
Linux is not the issue!
Actually from what I've read so far Helldivers 2 has been a much better experience on Linux than on Windows...
I myself haven't crashed once, have had no performance issues, and the anticheat seems to work fine with Proton - which if you happen to be concerned about security just goes into its own little wine prefix which will ABSOLUTELY be irrevocably nuked if I were to uninstall and it has no way of avoiding that.
Removing anti cheat entirely isn't in the dev's cards, and I wouldn't want them to remove it anyway (those who cheat in online games honestly need a trip to the mental ward).
I'm not saying it is the issue. i was pointing out the ridiculousness of that as a reason for asking for it to be removed, if it had been.
if the anti cheat didnt work on linux, they would not have abandoned it. they'd have abandoned linux.
show me proof its doing that.
For all we know having an anti-cheat is a contractual requirement set by Sony, since this is a live service game with Microtransactions and big corp generally does not like the idea of missing out on money.
We don't KNOW if the devs themselves care that much, although I'm sure they do like additional revenue too.
EDIT: Sorry Gaz, I misread your comment.
The game as a whole is CPU heavy, not (just) the anti-cheat
Sony was also the originator for Denuvo as well, but don't tell Gaz that.

I was not aware, my apologies. I assume too late to fix, if some mod wants to move this, sure, feel free to.
Edit: yes there is in fact a huge sub-forum, i feel a little humbled now. Unlucky for me, the search engine is limited on one sub-forum per default.
The opposite is true, as i heard linux is free to play without the anti-security-engine being THIS anti security.
Is it required to have this specific one tho? Still, this is news to me, thanks for sharing.
it was purely conjecture, relax.
