Ontop of that, I think any bullet that can pierce a level of armor should also blow off small bits of that armor as it does so. This would give real value to weak weapons like the Liberator Penetrator. because it will slowly tear off bits of medium armor to then get the full damage bonus on medium targets to make up for its lower than average damage.
It would also look really cool seeing everything have battle damage from where people have been shooting it.
Far to many weapons claim to be anti-armor in this game, and then just arnt.
correct. I'm saying for it to eventually damage heavy armor on just a single spot after sustained fire. it wouldnt really throw off the meta, I don't think, since it'd take way longer than aiming the railgun on unsafe mode
This would be the most reasonable way for the laser weapons to work (minus the Sickle that's a laser bolt or whatever tf it is). This would align with modern(ish) weapon examples of heating tanks to cook the electronics (and people) inside instead of punching holes in armor - the heat weapon isn't meant to "melt" the tank but instead destroy the contents.
This would make sense on bugs and bots. But instead we have the Scythe that uh... I don't know what that does but it's not useful.
The quasar is the energy weapon we're all waiting for. Charge up and release a single powerful laser blast, that one would be worthy of the name "cannon".
