- has the least ammunition
- will OFTEN miss targets especially if they are close
- can not even lock onto close targets
- the lock on is slow and buggy
- lock on can be blocked by small branches or tiny buildings/rocks despite a huge target
- actually fails to kill even chargers with 2 side shots
- can not be manually aimed for headshots/weakpoints
- absolutely loves to hit terrain in the way
- consumes a ton of ammo boxes due to missing and low damage.
- takes up your backpack
- reload basically stuns you.
Its possibly the worst weapon i have unlocked in this game so far.
All the other anti-tank options are infinitely superior.
>try to lock it
>starts locking then it won't see the target
>by the time I manage to fire a single missile the guy with the EAT called in a laser and fired 3 missiles into the titan
no point in taking it
lol
You're almost certainly trying to use it too close and whilst it's certainly janky, it;s absolutely lethal and just takes time to figure out, nothing comes close in terms of long range anti tank, anti fab, anti objective etc.
After a while it grows on you, old maverick missiles would lock on to pylons along the roadside and the IR variant would lock the tarmac on hot roads, it's kinda endearing that the spear has a similar quirk to it.
What helps is marking the target if you struggle to lock it, does something fruity that seems to help it lock.
yeah i know what you mean, the weapon shouldn't need to target at point blank ranges, that literally betrays the javelin style functions, a little haze is enough to obscure the targeting mechanism. the only thing i have reliably and accurately shot from afar is bile titans and stationary objects, sometime aft finding a high place.
Its useful but its a finicky bastard that requires support fire and distractions to use right and or well.
Where it really shines is eliminating a lot of tactical objectives (especially against automatons - the stratagem jammer and mortar emplacement as demonstrated in the video clip someone else linked). Haven't tried using it on the "Eye of Sauron" detection array yet, but if it targets that, I think it's fine!
Its just that it has an annoying tendency to just glitch and refuse to actually lock, or switch target because a charger passed somewhere around the titan and then back on titan etc.
Have you tried ADS? I find using the actual sight tends to speed the lock on process.
if you mean the first person mode (and not just rightclicking in third person), thats almost impossible to even tell if its locked or not, and half the time you have to aim it at nothing for it to actually lock on something.
if you just mean right click in third person, yes thats the mode i was in and it just refused to lockon.
I'm not saying it never work, ive had it work and its magical when it does, it nukes titans and chargers like nothing else from far. But my problem with it, is that its unreliable with it randomly deciding to just not work anymore.
