Tips for Spear Use?
Honestly, I wanna see the value in the Spear. Everyone says it's good, but it seems so inconvenient, and whatever it does, feels like the RR and Expendable can do better, and quicker. So, where is the value? I need tips. Make me a believer. I know, obviously, that the lock-on is a bit buggy at times, but nobody can really give me tips on that, I don't think.

Spear 100% better at longer ranges, doesn't run the risk of hitting smaller bugs and Better then almost any other Rocket for factorys. Also really good at shooting around terrain or corners, Height does seem to make a difference in locking on, While there are said to be other ways to make lock on more reliable i can't say if they've been proven to work. But in the end run whatever you enjoy

However if there was one thing i would loved changed is that it locked onto the engines of dropships instead of the center...

Personally feel the Spear is in kinda crappy place with how finnicky its lock-on is,

When it works, its awesome. But trying to get a lock on a titan that is 50ft away is apparently no-go. Or it missing targets entirely at closer ranges. I kinda assumed its basically a Javelin, so it should go straight up, then down on target? Feels weird seeing it miss things that are 20-30ft.

I know it's better for longer ranges, but for it to actually kill, it still needs to be a headshot, right? Long range wouldn't matter if the enemy wasn't facing you, and that really sucks when it only has 4 max rockets. Is there like, a tech I should use for it or something?

Yes, use recoiless.

Use the first person view for an “easier” lock on. Otherwise, its damage is substantially better than the RR, which is important when dealing with the strongest enemies this game has to offer currently. The RR has better ammo and can be manually fired, but it also means you can miss and the damage isnt comparable. It’s more efficient with a crew, but that requires coordination and puts two divers in danger if any enemy attempts to attack them during the team reload process. The Spear is safer in comparison since the individual reload is much faster.

the most helpful and important tip is to not use it. Just bring EAT's. You're welcome.

The damage really confuses me, though. Say I wanna take out a Bile Titan. It's not gonna one-shot unless it hits the face, right? What if it doesn't? Those 4 max rockets are gonna suffer real quick if there's more than 1 Titan.

Easy fix, if the Titan isn’t facing you but you KNOW its gonna aggro, shoot at it with small arms and wait for it to turn towards you. Also I find ammo to be a non-issue, since with peak efficiency I can take out a Bile Titan with 1 shot I just use the resupply and random ammo on the ground to fill up. By the time I need a full reload the Spear stratagem is available again and i can call it down

I thought so. So, not something I can really help somebody getting chased by one with, but if it's got agro on me, then it could work. Ofc, this also poses a problem if Titans never spawn. lol

yes and then watch it close the gap the gap from 200m to 0m and not be able to lock on it. Whereas you coulda just shot it in the head with the EAT you had on your back and then call in 2 more and its an EZ kill. Or you coulda hit it with an orbital rail and the eat on your back or 1 eat on your back and a 110 etc etc. The spears sucks ass stop using it.

Even dire emergencies the Spear can 2-3 shot a Titan if it hits the body, it actually pairs quite well with the railcannon as its ease of use means that you can fire at the body then follow up with the railcannon for an efficient kill. Also, if you have some basic communication with your teammate you can tell them to try and run towards you while you're prepped with the Spear already.

hope for a targeting buff

Spear needs to 1 shot chargers for it's ammo/reload uses. And needs superior locking.

It's also a javelin. Which is it's 1 use, is literally 2 bugs, the charger and titan. It SHOULD be damn useful.

It used to 1 shot tanks, but that stopped happening at one point. Same with Hulks.

Till then, EAT for life lol.

it can still 1 shot tanks but it needs to come from a top angle rather then a low one, same kinda issue with the hulks. If its even slightly to the side when it impacts it won't one shot. Personally i do think spear should have a slight damage increase Just so these one shots of Tanks, Hulks and Chargers are a guarantee regardless of angle . Only reason i'd even consider taking a RR is the one shot charger buff other wise i personally wouldn't use it over spear and auto-cannon, but perhaps that is just my preference
