Its not fascism, is really democracy.
The game is not a fascism satire, if you look at it well.

Its indeed about democracy. You are sent in name of high ideals to fight and die because the government decided so, and you are not forced at all, you just go there because you buy the stuff about being a hero, doing your part, making a difference, etc.

If the game ressembles something, is not fascism at all. Its very similar to most western democratic countries today, and clearly inspired on the USA patriotism and "freedom" mainly.

So when the games goes playing jokes about democracy... its actually no joke. thats how democracies work. Selling the individuals cool stories about duty, defending higher goods and whatever. You don´t need to look at fascism, comunism, monarchy or any authoritarian or "evil" system as to figure out from where helldivers is getting its inspiration.

Superearth government and helldivers are not a mockery of fascism. It is indeed showing clearly how real democratic countries do to send people willingly and proudly into wars for whatever reason.

Hell, helldivers is not even being exagerated, real military propaganda of most western, democratic-labeled countries, uses exactly the same kind of arguments and have the same vibes (patriotism, doing the grater good, becoming a better yourself, serving the greater cause, defending what is loved from external dangers...)

So, as said. HD2 fits perfectly on what nowadays we call democracy, so trying to see it as a satire of fascism, imperalism or whatever is totally unneeded.

It's not about being militaristic
It's about all of these combined
Get your argument together or take the L and move on

You got your definition from wikipedia so I'm not really gonna entertain it since wikipedia has been ♥♥♥♥♥♥ with for ages now and isn't a reliable source and i know for a fact this article is using, again, redefinition from people who so broadly redefined fascism that literally any government or philosophy can be labeled fascist.

(They're definitely Authoritarian and not actually democratic or a republic of any kind though in terms of super earth!)
So you have no argument, gotcha, clown

Fascism (/ˈfæʃɪzəm/ FASH-iz-əm) is a far-right, authoritarian, ultranationalist political ideology and movement,[1][2][3] characterized by a
* dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy
* militarism
* forcible suppression of opposition
* belief in a natural social hierarchy
* subordination of individual interests for the perceived good of the nation or race
* strong regimentation of society and the economy

Warhammer 40k games get these threads every now and then too, over that side of the fence it's "Imperium aren't bad guys" but with the same lack of understanding satire.

Given helldivers is very clearly showing itself as fascism yet you consider it to be what we call democracy now a days, it should be clear that you should see that the democracy as we call it now a days is little more than a sham.

Buying the stuff about being a hero is called indoctrination, someone is raised from birth on nonstop lies. The USA is well known as an imperialist power that constantly meddles in other governments for profit and power from slavery to its genocide of the natives to the puppeting of europe to the terror and destruction placed upon the third world in the cold war to the war in the middle east for resources to the ongoing support of genocide. Democracy should be a system where voters are informed on politics and can directly vote for change, we can't even directly vote for change on any topics because we're not even a democracy in the US but rather a republic, and a rather corrupt one at that to the point that bribery is legalized as lobbying among many other things. All fascists always make themselves out to be the heros, saviors of their country, very patriotic and nationalist, and against their enemies that they consider evil or subhuman to separate them from regular people and to make the idea of killing them enmass ok to the average person.

So yes, superearth is fascist disguised as a democracy, it follows the ongoing satire of the united states that starship troopers and other settings have showcased, yet the propaganda of the united states is so powerful that many people take it at face value.

PS: it's mentioned in the lore that nobody votes on superearth, there's an algorithm that votes for you, the democracy officer even says "freedom, freedom from the burden of choice" in reference to this. It's similar to US politics where we don't vote over any issues, we vote politicians into office who then "vote for us" usually in ways that aren't what we wanted and rather are for their own personal gain.

I think it's an Orwellian view of our very real future if people don't start to critically think for themselves. And I personally think the Devs created in tongue in cheek.

i dont think this is a 'everyone is fascist!' sort of problem. the label does get thrown around way too much but this is a fictional entity that was specifically made to be fascism poorly hiding as democracy. if super earth isnt fascist then i struggle to think what more the devs couldve done to make that the case.

It's almost like......
They're not the only ones who can be militaristic???
(The only difference is really that they believe in social hierarchy and use tyranny to try and change the nature of man as per their own literature whereas the philosophy in fascism and nazism are similar but different in reasoning)

(This definition is also likely using one of the redefinitions that completely ignore what Fascism actually was, lol)

This is why I prefer the definition from Mussolini himself. “Everything in the State, nothing outside the State, nothing against the State.” It was born from the beliefs that liberal democracy failed but the communist solution is wrong. Even though both ideologies end up being the same where the state becomes a defacto "god" over it's people.

The term Fascism is def overused and debased to the point where it is becoming meaningless.

stop this BS. it's a game. it's fantasy. it has nothing to do with your daily lives or the real world. go read a book. touch some grass. but stop wasting resources on steam forums.
